I have no proof but I can almost guarantee the Yankees told MLS "no home matches during the playoffs." What possible reason would make MLS schedule no home games during the playoff hunt for one of their biggest drawing teams other than that?I also doubt they gave that much thought to it.
It was stated earlier I believe at a press conference that NYCFC will come second if the Yankees go deep into the Post Season. Meaning NYCFC will have to find another venue to play in.
If the October 25 game can't be played at the Stadium, maybe they'd play it at New England, and make it up next year by switching a meeting that would have been at New England to Yankee Stadium.
