2016 AT&T MLS All-Star Game Presented by Audi

Pirlo's looking like he'll be on the Fan 11 vote. That being said, I revise my Commission Picks to Jack Harrison and Jordan Morris. Show off the young talent of this league. Last year Garbs went for the aging superstars (Gerrard and Lampard) and that didn't end up well for the All Star Game.

Dude, we want as few of our players in that game as possible - they don't need an extra cross-country flight for a Thursday night match when we play Colorado 2 days later on Saturday. Don't vote anybody in to it.

I'm aware of the situation. But MLS put in rules that if players skip out of the MLS game they will be suspended their next match. That being said, Villa and Pirlo are already in the squad. Don Garber makes his picks at his discretion.

Sadly, I agree with both sentiments. We want as few people as possible in the game, but we aren't going to end up with zero. Villa will be in it. Probably Lampard and Pirlo too, although maybe the front office makes some calls and gets one or both out of the game. The question is whether or not guys like Matarrita and Harrison get selected as well. If there is any good news it is that Jermaine Jones and Tim Howard are locks for Colorado. Not sure about the rest of the roster.

One thing is for sure, I am voting often for as many Colorado players as possible.

That 2 day turnaround is total BS. Really bad scheduling.

I looked and saw that ours is the only game Saturday, then inferred that the Yankees are returning home the following Tuesday. Because every time we have an oddly scheduled Saturday afternoon game it is for that reason. This time the Yankees return home on Wednesday due to an odd schedule quirk involving 4 straight games against the Mets with the first two at Citi Field and the second two at YS. So we could play Sunday afternoon and meet the usual turn around time.

I almost wish you hadn't written this because it makes the schedule that much more asinine.

There was no point in hoping Villa, the league's top scorer, wouldn't make it. And Pirlo was probably at least a 70%+ bet to make it too.
Also note that because this is MLS the vote guarantees nothing, even if it is often followed:
"While the players named to the Fan XI are not guaranteed a spot on the gameday roster, the outcome of fan voting is taken into consideration as the 22-man roster is decided."
Still have to wonder whether Matarrita and/or Jack gets named. If they do use this as a starting point, they have to add a bunch of West conference players because this is 8/3 East/West. Colorado and Dallas lead the West, plus they'sre playing in SJ so I would expect some guys from those teams.
Finally, I have to think with the short turnaround for us and the Rapids and nobody else, the coach has to limit our guys playing time. Coach Kinnear of SJ has no motivation to tire our players.

Two points here...
1) It's a shame that Diaz wasn't selected by normal considerations for the ASG
2) Beckerman does not deserve a commissioners pick
Not sure. Beckerman might be a perfect commissioners pick as he's got name recognition, USMNT reputation, might get more viewers from casual people who wouldn't know other players maybe. If Garber is picking solely based on what would benefit the league as a whole the most Beckerman might be a good pick.

They'll play a maximum of 60', more than likely they'll play just one half. Expect them on a chartered flight back to New York that night.

They should play a maximum of the Starters' Team Photo and then immediately a police escort to the airport for their chartered flight.
