Bench: Isi, Ooh Ah!, The Precious, SAS, Scallywag, Stoove, Caldwell

JLew playing RWB or RM which ever you categorize it as is a terrible spot for him to try to show off his skills and earn his way back. If we play a 3-5-2 either start Lewis up top or leave him on the bench, I'd rather see the kid get spot sub appearances at the end of games in an attacking role that suits his skill set than thrown out tonight as a force fit into a role that's practically set up for him to fail by exposing his weaknesses and limiting his chances to show off his attacking skills.

Such is the nature of the U.S. Open Cup on the eve of the World Cup - leaving us with barely enough outfield players to form a team.

Yup. Mata and Wallace both have green cards. Wallace would have started in this game on the LW. Lewis on the RW.

I might agree if we had no other options but the force fit isn't necessary in this case with SAS on the roster.

This is a tough one.

If you go by Schnitzer's chart, then we only have 10 domestic outfield players available tonight - and one of those is Scally. Add the 5 outfield internationals that we can play, and you get 15 outfield players for the 16 that a team would usually carry. And one of those is Scally, and I'm not sure he's with the team right now (does anyone know?).

I am guessing we go 3-5-2, since we had more success that way against the Red Bulls a few weeks back, but I do think a 4-3-3 fits the personnel we have available a little better.

I don't think Ring and Isi get another full run out with Atlanta coming in on Saturday.

If we go 3-5-2, I like Sands playing the hybrid role in the middle. I am a little nervous about Isi on the left, but it is what it is.

We have 4 pure center backs available: 2 domestic, 2 international. With Sands and Sweat in the 18, I think we look there for CB depth and don't burn an international spot for CB.

I like Isi as a bench option if we need a late goal - besides, we only have 1 domestic forward, so we need an international for depth at that position.
Scally is with the team, they just showed the bus arriving, and he is there. Haven't seen Maxi, Berget, Callens or Isi, although that might not be definitive because the videographer walked with the players instead of staying and filming everyone get off the bus. But Villa and Maxi are usually attached at the hip when riding the bus, so I have to imagine he didn't travel

I'm sure PV has thought about everything smart everyone said, and I'm sure he's gonna do none of it.
Cheers, Geoff.

He did start Lewis. And he handicapped his best asset by starting a single attacking mid who can only play the ball backwards or lose it.

That’s it. That’s all U3 can do. Nothing, and I do mean muthafookin’ nuthin’, else he can do. Useless. Utterly, irredeemably useless.
