WC Qualifiers - 2022

Rooting for Callens. Guy has played so hard for us and can tell how much playing for his country means to him. He went from not being considered for the national team due to playing in MLS to helping lead them.

The guys on ESPN FC including Shaka Hislop, ex premier League GK, said in his experience the lasers weren’t that big a deal (although admitting he never had THAT many in his face). They also mentioned it was a North African thing and so this was a kind of payback

Is Callens and Johnson our only players going to WC?

That appears to be the case, and Johnson is still fighting to get in the top 3 at GK.

It remains possible that one of our other players could end up in the mix. I seem to recall that Santi was on Uruguay's provisional roster for the most recent qualifiers, and he played at every youth level for them. Taty has to have at least an outside chance for Argentina - especially if he signs for a good club in Europe this summer.

There are also several alums who could get a call up - Reyna, Scally, Matarrita.
