Born a yankees fan, and "born" a NYCFC fan. Considering the old stadium hosted multiple seasons of the Cosmos, and that the old stadium had a darn sewer grate in CF, I think this is firmly in the "first world problems" category.
My thoughts on why this "scandal" is a waste of time.
What all of this is saying is that for a Yankees player to already be formulating excuses for the field before they have even seen how it plays is a bit presumptuous and rather naive. It almost feels like causing trouble for the sake of it. One gets the sense that if Derek Jeter was still playing these comments would have stayed in-house. Sometimes knowing what battles to get involved in is the key to victory, and he would know that this is not a fight worth having

I couldn't agree more on both point - as well as your article. I defected from a Mets family at 7 because Donnie Baseball was amazing and we share a 4/20 birthday. I don't know when NYC became so soft and complained about first world nonsense. Teams have shared arenas since beginningless [sporting] time. It is not our mentality - especially our sporting mentality to gripe about nonsense before it is even an issue. I'd support the team if they were playing in Bryant Park...which ago walked passed today and it actually looks a lot like Yankee stadium right now since they just removed the ice skating rink.
