Social media chatter about Chanot going to Cincinnati. Anyone have info on this?
this seems very unlikely to me. he seems to be very happy with the club and one of the biggest reasons of why he signed a multi-year contract before the 2019 season.

i would be shocked that the club would let him go. just doesn't make sense.

who is reporting this? the dude was just chilling in yesterdays behind the scenes video
If you're going to post this, at least back it up with attaching some of the "social media chatter" via screenshot or linking to the tweet, post, etc.

(I hope this is not true. I love Chanot. - LionNYC)
I specifically didn't post a source because it seemed wildly out of left field. But the most prominent (public) place I saw it was Tisha Gale’s Instagram. She’s an NYCFC photographer with Switch the Pitch (née MLS Female).

i snooped around but nothing at all mentioned ( so far) anywhere.

i figure he wont want to go to other mls team. only back to europe ( he almost did couple of years ago because of his personal issues).

Thank God. I Heart Chanot. - LionNYC
It came from a Football Manager simulation on Instagram that posted pics of him in a horribly photoshopped Cincy kit, sorry I can't find the screenshot right now, but it's all a misunderstanding (spread by a pretty well-known NYCFC photog)

I hate living in a time of widespread access to disinformation.

So is de rosario signing or...?
Some of it depends on when he joined the NYCFC academy. Transfrmkt has himjoining at March 1st, 2019 so he would have to wait a little bit for a year or training but who knows the exact date.

Why does he have to wait a year? Is there something about homegrown for that?

IIRC ....yes. i think that is why jack harrison could not count as a homegrown signing, he didnt spend one full year with the affiliates or something.

A club may sign a player to a contract without subjecting him to the MLS SuperDraft if the player has been a member of that club's youth academy for at least one year and has met the necessary training and retention requirements. Players joining MLS through this mechanism are known as Homegrown Players.

There is no limit to the number of Homegrown Players a club may sign in any given year.

So if this is the case we might be waiting until March. I don't doubt we're going to sign him, he's been in preseason the entire time even after all the games

I am choosing to believe our lack of a #2 and #7 means we are going to splash the cash

I don't think anyone is wearing the No. 7 shirt for a while. I understand it's not custom in soccer to retire a number, but I get the feeling that number might be unofficially retired, at least for a while.
