Game Of Thrones (spoilers)

[SPOILERS]

One of my favorite shows. It's the only show on that I make sure I'm home to watch "live".

I have been wating for this episode for a long time, and goddamn it was worth it. Seeing Joffrey's blue face: happiness. It would've been nice if they kept his final moments alive true to the book...but I guess some people might find a child tearing their throat to pieces a bit disturbing.

Have you read any of the books?

I've read up to where the show is. I don't want to go ahead and know what happens

Finally got rid of Joffrey. Who do you think did it?
I was in shock. I had a feeling something big was going to happen when I heard the Rains of Castamere being played yet again at a wedding....

Looks like Ser Dontos had something to do with it, seeing how he rushed Sansa out right away. But so many people with motive: Tyrion (though he did not do it), Oberyn Martell, and part of me thinks they reinforced the fact that Shae was gone to trick us, and maybe she did not get on the ship.

So yeah, I have no idea. It is why I love this series so much.

It goes without saying that while spoilers from the show are OK in this thread, spoilers from the book are not.

Although, I guess you guys could create a new thread to discuss that, which I would avoid like the plague.

That's why I asked if anyone read the books. If anyone is up to it we can start a new thread for that. I'll still engage here, just won't go into anything that hasn't happened yet or been introduced in the show.
I'll also point out that the show deviates from the book in many places so my speculation is pure speculation and nothing from the books.

I feel like I'm the only one who really enjoys the Bran storyline. I'm excited to see how the develop his connection to the three-eyed crow and the weirwood.

F#ck Ramsay Bolton. I hate that scumbag more than our dearly departed king. Theon/Reek is one of the most tragic characters in the series. Everything that happened to him happened because he was unlucky enough to be born. I hope he gets his revenge.

I think at this point, Bran's role is this is in the early stages of development. there is not a lot of action surrounding him, it seems it is setting up for him to eventually unite the North under Stark rule yet again.

I agree Theon had a lot of bad luck, but his betrayal of Robb, who trusted him as a brother, was unforgivable in my mind. Obviously the Boltons are even more traitorous, but Theon and his family repulse me as well. I hope they destroy each other.

My favorite part of this whole series is the struggle for power. who fills the vacuum left by Joffrey's death? I am worried the Lannisters are bound to seize even more power.

Personally, I think of all the houses, Westeros would be best ruled by the Tyrells. Kind, merciful, practical, fair. I hope this can happen somehow.

Tywin and Co. accomplished far too much to lose the throne that easily. It wouldn't be beyond him to pull some Red Wedding type shit either.

Tommen, Joffreys brother, will most likely take the throne. This means that Cersei will once again become Queen Regent

I have a few ideas.
Either Cersei tried to poison Tyrion and in turn Geoffrey got it... The reason being Geoffrey ended up drinking the wine that was in front of Tyrion when Geoffrey needed a refill.
Or Dontos poisoned the pie to kill anyone that ate it.
Or the Lanisters poisoned it to kill Geoffrey as he was clearly become a mad king himself and they knew it wouldn't be long before he started turning on his family (as he was ridiculing Jamie).

We'll find out the real answer soon enough.

Rewatching the episode now.

Tyrion to Jamie
"Have some of the boar. It's a favorite of Cersie's since one killed Robert for her"
Hahahaha I'm rewatching with subtitles in case I missed anything.

I like the first theory best. But then again, Cersei should have intervened when she realized it has gone wrong. Also, I think that plot would be too careless for her. I mean, anybody can drink any cup of wine, she knows that.

If it was the pie then others should have died.

And as power hungry as Cersei is, I do not think she would allow her own son to be killed. Although it would make sense given her interaction with Pycelle when she called herself the Queen, foreshadowing that she would in fact be the Queen and not Margaery Tyrell.

I wonder if Sansa somehow pulled it off when the cup fell to her and she handed it to Tyrion. But it seemed Joffrey only died from his second drink (although it could have been a delayed reaction) implying someone poisoned it after he put it down to eat the pie. That narrows it down to Tyrion or someone else sneaking to the dais to put the poison in the cup in that short span ofa minute or so

The end of episode 401 had some great ones with The Hound.

Arya "He killed Lommie"
Hound: "What the fuck is a Lommie?"

and...

Arya: "Lots of people name their swords"
Hound: "Lots of cunts!"

I found that whole sequence highly amusing. It is a great pairing and they are both great actors as well.

Going back to season 1 there was a conversation between Ned Stark and Grand Maester Pycell when Ned found out how Jon Aryyn died. Pycell told him about the poison and stated that, "Poison was a women's weapon"

Oooooh, thats a bingo. If we narrow it down to women there are still so many possibilities... Cersei on purpose or by accident, or Sansa, or Shae, or who knows maybe the Dornish like poison as much as they like adultery.

Watching the episode again I think it's the tyrells. If you watch closely they all wait for Geoffrey to eat it. Unless this is customary as others were waiting as well. I don't think it was the wine as the wine was also drunk by everyone at that table.
It could of been Dontos as he tells Sansa if you want to live come with me. Implying he knew something would happen. Then again the tyrells could of warned him of it and had him help her as the mom took a liking to her.
