Sylvestre actually plays for Carolina Railhawks. He was only on loan to Philly. He's currently fighting ex-NYCFCer Akira Fitzgerald for the starting spot in Carolina or moving elsewhere.MacMath, Blake, McCarthy and Silvestre make 4.
Dave, as a long time redbull before making the switch to NYCFC, I have seen A LOT of Roy Miller, and if he is healthy, I think he and Iraola can provide good depth. All the stupid plays aside from Roy, when healthy he is pretty good. Good distribution, strong, goes up the flanks nicely. I wouldn't be oppose to it. As far as Restrepo, I have never seen him play much. I don't care about the Cosmos or NASL to watch so couldn't really say.Last point ... Roy Miller and Walter Restrepo would be HUGE additions for NYCFC. Immediately ups their quality on the flanks. I know that won't be a popular opinion ... but I stand by it.
Roy Miller is leaps and bounds better then Wingert and Brovsky, no comparison. Is he better than Wingert or Brovsky? Probably. How much better is debatable.
Yea I hope as the NY soccer scene grows and grows to great lengths your site can start to be a bit more impartial. Full Disclosure, I for one have never been a fan of the way you guys have handled the NYCFC news, it always read as items that had hidden agendas with a subtle message etc. And was one who always told folks on this board what I felt about EOS. I hope to be proven wrong and I look forward to your contributions to this board if you decide to stick around. Whether that is as a fan of NYCFC or just to partake in some great discussions, as a fan of other teams in the area, non fan, simply as a journalist whatever. That old gag.
You guys would be horrified with the amount of red, blue and green apparel in my closet. Or my all-NY FUT team for that matter.
Just a reporter pal. And just want NY to be the beacon of American soccer. Nothing more. Nothing less.
They were paying his salary while on loan, just like Vitoria and that red-headed bearded striker from Nantes. And Blake and McCarthy started their last month + of games (including USOC final) one reason was Sylvestre was injured. Then I stand corrected. But as of a minute and a half ago he (Sylvestre) is still listed on the Union roster over on their web page and by the look of things he was their #1 guy last season.
but don't let Miller take the free kick whatever you do.Roy Miller is leaps and bounds better then Wingert and Brovsky, no comparison.
I remember watching that game when Henry let Roy Miller take the FK....I was beside myself lol....fucking joke of a team the redbulls were. They were paying his salary while on loan, just like Vitoria and that red-headed bearded striker from Nantes. Actually, if somebody takes the time to read them, the rules are quite easy to understand. Problems arise when rules are pulled out of thin air and/or changed to appease a given situation (e.g. LA needing more TAM for 2016, Jermaine Jones Lottery, etc). And anyone -- including ME -- who says they have a grasp on MLS rules is either lying or an MLS employee. Socialist rules are NOT easy to understand in a competitive market place.
Are you talking about the FK? Yea it was a bad kick but the bigger point was that Henry, for some reason or another, decided to let Roy Freaking Miller take the FK in the dying seconds of the game against DC. Here is the article.Worse than Pirlo's or that one from Villa against the Rapids?

BTW, you do realize that a Salary Cap or tenure-driven minimum contracts in any league (e.g. the NFL, NBA, NHL, etc) are all socialist rules in a competitive market ?!?!? Don't try to make your statement sound more informed than it really is.
Dave, first and foremost let me just say this, when I used to listen to Seeing Red every week for a number of years, I enjoyed what you brought to that show a lot, I always held a high opinion of your personality and dedication to the soccer scene in NY. Having said that, I will take your word, and yes I know the comments section is UGLY but that is to be expected. I really don't want to get into giving details because frankly it's not a big deal and I don't have the time or desire to go back and point out every article or comment that can be deemed biased. Anyway, here is hoping to continued growth for your site and the growth of soccer within the NYC area. I have been visiting EOS more over the last 6 weeks and have noticed a lot of NYCFC content which is good, and it behooves you to do so if you would allow me to say that, because of the popularity of our team. Anyway, all the best, cheers, and look forward to seeing you post more here.Brother, I am ALWAYS around. Here. Twitter. Everywhere.
And I am sorry you feel that way. Would love some examples. Christian has been a fixture on the beat, and I don't see anyone covering NYCFC as consistently as we have. Just off the top of my head, the Demichelis news, NYCFC's plan for Vieira when he was hired -- hell, even catching up with Meara and talking about Kreis! We are consistently bringing exclusive news and staying atop of the beat -- even while the rest of the market takes off for the offseason.
Anyhow, appreciate the feedback. Take a deeper look at what we offer. I think we can change your mind.
And also ... dont judge me by the comments section. Gets UGLY in there -- but that is my cross to bear when I ask all three teams fans to call EoS "home."
Cheers buddy.
My point exactly. The allocation and discovery claims are the rules that really rub people the wrong way, just look at Bruce Arena's comments on the discovery claim. I look forward to the day where Allocation and discovery claims are a thing of the past. You missed the part where MLS doesnt have that parent-to-satellite loan move in black and white on their roster (rules) page?
And you may be the first person to say MLS is "easy" to understand. The rules are constantly changing.
You didn't like the socialist tag. I get that. But I have no problem with salary caps or tenure. I DO have a problem with clandestine allocation and discover claims. I have a problem when players cant move freely and when the market place is secondary to a "restrictive" salary cap that doesn't reward players based on merit, but based on need. That is unique to MLS.
