Little info on national broadcasts/viewership.

Let's keep things organized. Unless the rumor has merit and has been confirmed be legitimate sources linking said player to NYCFC please do not start a new thread.

You must not have ever learned what a question mark means.

I'm assuming it's Philly because of the Earnie Stewart connection. But there is also a connection with Claudio.

I disagree that making him a manager is a bad idea. Maybe not the guy for us, but there are sports where you can walk right into coaching.
Merged with a sticky post. We'll probably be seeing a lot of new rumor posts so as we have done in the past its best to group unverified rumors under a collective thread.

What's your source on Facey and Angelino? They're loans can be extended. CFG is having its meeting with Kreis in a week.
Oh? Wonder if it will be about players or about his job/performance. Why discuss players at this point in the year. Seems a bit early.

Starting to see signs that this roster is going to be blown up in the coming days.

Could you post some of the signs please? I'm not that adept at reading into soccer journalism yet.

The roster needs to be blown up! From what I've read and heard the roster is constructed to play a 4-4-2 diamond. A formation we have not played all year, and a formation that we cannot play while playing Lampard and Pirlo.

I'm not going to mention the "I don't expect much turnover in the off-season" line from Kreis recently. Doh, I just did. But I sure hope that's not true!

The roster was "blown up" by upper management's decisions on DP's. They knew Kreis wanted to utilize a 4-4-2 diamond and failed to bring in DP personnel which would allow them to utilize this approach. Lampart and Pirlo (at this age) don't fit into this scheme. Lampart's not a forward, not an attack midfielder or deep midfield defender and definitely can't run in the outside floating positions. Pirlo at one time in his career was a phenomenal attack midfielder but if you watched him play prior to coming to NYCFC, he played deep with a henchman at his side doing all the dirty defensive work, not a Kyle Beckerman workhorse! Thus, Pirlo was the wrong player for the dynamic 4-4-2 floating diamond formation. Yes, two out of three DPs brought in by upper management didn't fit the system! Great fan draw but definitely the wrong player to bring into the team…especially at mid-season. That's were the blame should be placed!!!

I agree with everything you've just said. Now how do we fix it?

We need to keep the DP's we have now, or rather CFG will not allow you to ax them because they are great at bringing in fans.

What formation can we play that allows us to put Villa, Lampard, Pirlo, and Mix on the field? Those are our highest paid players and they are the ones that sell jerseys. From a business standpoint they must play. From a fan standpoint you want Poku playing as well, since he is a fan favorite.

From the standpoint of tactics, what I've seen is that we need someone who can head the ball in the net. Teams are not afraid to give us corners and free kicks, if you have Andrea Ficking Pirlo on your team the other manager should be shitting his pants at the concept of a free kick.

Will this be the spot where all the breaking news comes out ? Just want to know where to check instead of looking through endless new threads.

Our best four mids are all CM. Villa is also leveraged best with a second striker. That leaves two formation options: 4-4-2 Diamond and 4-2-2-2.

We are a poor fit for the diamond. Have to go 4-2-2-2. Assuming minimal new blood:

Villa - FA ST
Lampard - Poku
Mix - Pirlo
Allen - Mena - FA CB - Iraola

Mix will have to keep a defensive focus, but he can definitely play the spot. I'd bring in a new DM if we have the money to do so, and have Mix rotate through all four midfield spots depending on where here's needed.

A narrow 4-2-2-2 should work phenomenally at home on our narrow pitch.

On bigger fields or against certain teams, we can bring in Shelton as an AM and have him play wider. Another wing type, or Tony Taylor, would be nice to have for depth. McNamara also slots well into the AM spots in the 4-2-2-2.
