It's not as simple. I remember in another venue they would have to get fire and building safety inspections every time they put it back up. That makes it very inconvenient. Not sure what the NYC regulations are, but I doubt they are lax.
Also, a section of netting is very heavy and is a more intensive project than you think.
If they don't do the top netting and do something NFL style where it can be retracted in the new section, that would be sweet, but I'm not sure of their plans.

Hopefully it doesn't extend to the goal or near it.
Very possible for it to extend to the first base side goal. And here the Yankees will say it will protect fans from shots during warm ups and during the game....
Not sure about the corner but along the third base line in the mid-220s you're under the upper deck in about row 12 (might be row 10 but I'm not 100% sure of that).I'm looking to relocate ...does anyone know row the covering goes up to in 234/233B/233A?

Reps will say 10-12, but I can confirm 16 is definitely coveredI think it's around row 16 or 17 in section 233B
Thinking about relocating as well. This year I'm in 233B and every time I used the trade-in program and tried to get 4 seats together they forced me to upgrade my seats to a higher category ticket. Just got off the phone with a ticket rep and they told me that they won't be doing that anymore. If you're in category 6 like me, they'll find tickets together in the same category. So now I'm thinking about upgrading to section 110, which I sat in this year for one game. Any thoughts? How's resale in this section if I can't make it to a game?

Try not to give the reps a hard time. It's not their choice to have the net up and I'm sure they are going to have a hard time dealing with fans about it.
If you have any anger, direct it towards the FO.
