2024 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs

This Atlanta team is dangerous though, they do have capable strikers. I can see them going to conference final and give who ever is there problems.

Crazy that our 3-6 upset was the third biggest in the East. Downright silly that the only reason it was not a clean sweep by the underdog was a bad decision shirt tug by Diani at 90+7. Correct call, even if McGuire flopped to sell it.

I hate that penalty takers can put in their own rebound off a keeper. They have a head start of several yards over everyone else. You just got stopped on a 70%+ gimme and you should not get a short cut to a second chance. You can't be first to touch a rebound off the woodwork. I take it the reason they allow it is there is this idea that the keeper should prevent that type of rebound, but that's really absurd thinking. Let's rig everything to make your job impossible. The taker can stutter, stop, start again, do the macarena, and then kick, and you if you're faked out and leave the line early it's a do-over. You have to jump before you can see where the ball is going. A well placed high shot is unbeatable. A well struck shot often gets through even if you guess right and get a hand on it. But then we expect if, despite all that, you make a block, you control the rebound away from the kicker.

I'm guessing the kicker has all the advantages since pens are supposed to be a deterrent for fouling inside the box. the ball must touch another player though, so if it comes off the post or crossbar, the kicker can't play it.

Let’s not forget that the winning Orlando PK was illegal as not only the player made a complete stop in his run up, but he also made a step backward. PRO didn’t call it.
I’m just amazed that check at 96:30 in the Messiami game didn’t result in a penalty.

Someone needs to mash up a meme of Guzan flailing around stuck in the net as the Vulture in Spider-Man’s web

Campana absolutely should have gotten a yellow card for that push on Guzan. No question. He shoved him hard as he could into the net. Closer to red than nothing.

I loved the second half of that match. Insane. Some incredible saves by Guzan, and the winning goal as the Miami players switched off after their guy collapsed in the box. I thought there would be more controversy about that, but in the end it’s not Atlanta’s job to do anything but play its hardest until the whistle sounds.

Worth noting that the guy who went down, Aviles, looked terribly unwell over that whole sequence. You can see him staggering a bit and struggling to run downfield before he keels over. He was subbed out right after that.
