Im in Disney World and it’s getting down to low 50s, high 40s at night. While in Epcot I was on line for some overpriced food and a cocktail. Someone in a Red Bull jersey went walking by. I pointed to my NYCFC MLS Cup beanie and said shame you don’t have one of these to keep your head warm. The look of confusion, realization and mild sadness on his face all in just a few seconds was priceless. “Happiest place on earth” or not I wasn’t going to miss an opportunity for some banter. New York is Blue!

There isn’t a mayor in any universe who would refuse to acknowledge any team that claims to be New York.
The audience who thinks it’s wrong is a niche of a niche.
Really, this. Idk how others can even begin to thing that the Mayor would "take sides" in sports of all things????

you're right. there wouldn't be any stink over him cheering on the jets or giants, neither of which play in NYC.

but this probably isn't even him posting. probably an assistant because if it were him speaking, he would have said "NYCFC Red Bulls United"

still the only team in the ny metro area with a cup. still the only team in the ny metro area to call its home nyc. soon to be the only team in the ny metro area to have their own stadium in nyc. how do the red bulls even continue?

They should honestly rebrand themselves to be the New Jersey Red Bulls. That's not banter or anything -- just lean into it like the Devils do.

That's probably what's best for their attendance/fans but certainly not what's best for the reputation of their shitty energy drink brand. Given the focus of their hype video for their shot at the first championship in club history I'll let you guess what they care more about:

I've been saying this for years. Ironbound FC. Of course, Red Bull in Austria would never give up the "New York" name.
