Since the deal fell through, here are Sylla’s stats at Schalke:

Maybe we dodged a bullet.

However that does not excuse the club for the fact that we’re into the season and we have NO #9.

He lost his starting job to Edin Džeko, who's about to turn 40. Very strange.

It was nice to see a little Shore, Baiera interplay to lead to Keatons should be penalty.

Shore is a baller, smooth on the ball, always looking to attack but can also put in the tackle. I'm rooting for him to take O'neils spot as I find O'neil consistently underwhelming. A Keaton, Shore double Pivot with Trewin at CB would be fun to watch.

I’m partial to O’Neil, think he’s the best ball winner we got but have no problem letting Shore go through it.

I’m underwhelmed by O’Neill as well. Yes he wins the ball nicely sometimes but to me overall he’s barely replacement-level.

Griezmann should be our destiny and no matter how many overtures the universe offers us the chance, we refuse to take it. Don’t let Orlando get through with this.
I'd be pissed. Miami or LA is one thing but if we lose what could be or marque singing for the new stadium to bloody Orlando??

It was reported that the Sylla deal fell through on Febuary 2nd. In the 22 days since MLS teams have completed 17 incoming transfers for players from teams outside the US. More are rumored to be to be in the works with Sargent headed to Toronto and Griezmann now in talks with Orlando. For Dunivant's tenure we now stand at one successful signing from a CFG sister club and one failed signing.

Even if they signed a new striker today it will take at least a month for medicals, visa and integration into the team meaning at a minimum we are going 5 games into the season without a striker. Given that there is not even a sniff of a rumor it will likely be more. Dunivant looking more and more like another Lee with each passing day.

Do Nothing Dunivant, the replacement to Do Nothing David. Todd’s offseason has consisted of one intracompany move.

Count me in the group that thinks this is harsh.

Had an immediate DP signing in greatest position of need who went on to fail his medical.

If any of the next 3 windows include a failure to sign greatest position of need, I will agree. But I'm nowhere near there yet.

I think the jury is still out on Dunivant, but I hate the idea of not being concerned about points early in the season. I'd rather we have a full roster and bank as many points as we can. I also get it that a possible signing can end up not happening at the last minute.

And as I say every season, if their not concerned about the beginning of the season why should we be? Why should we spend money on tickets or Apple or what not if their not making an effort?

Yep, this is where I am too. I am sure Dunivant is still working on this - Pascal has made it crystal clear he wants a striker this window. It takes time to (a) scout the right player (b) see if the team is willing to sell him and (c) negotiate with the player, to say nothing of the medicals, etc. We don't know if they've come close to agreement on anyone else yet, but I am sure they are working on it. We still have a month before this window closes and while I wish the Sylla signing would have worked out, I can't imagine a scenario where that one fails and they throw their hands up.

Waiting until the summer window I agree with you. But if we sign a player this window and he makes it by Matchday 8 or so, that's really not a big deal.

I completely agree that waiting until the summer window is a mistake, but I'm still hopeful we sign someone this window and all is forgotten by April. If we sign a striker and he misses the first 7 games, that's a long way from Fernandez-Mercau missing the first 20 games of last season.
