Something found in the medical would be the only reason.what changes could possible be requested so late in the deal? player already went for medical. did something show up there?

The 26-year-old has struggled this season and only has four goals and two assists in 17 2.Bundesliga games.
The league or origin is just an clue, but not determinative. Not even the fee. Carles Gil, for example, was bought by NER for very little money $1.5 million euros, from Deportivo in 2nd division. He had been worth more a few years back, when Aston Villa paid 6M to Valencia for him, but I don't think he featured for Villa and somehow his value cratered. And he's been, I think, a top 10ish player in MLS for a while.Only options I can some up with are as you said something came up in the medical or NYCFC wants to back out of the deal for some reason so they are playing games.
I was excited to have a striker lined up to start the season but given what the article says about his form this season maybe it wouldn't be terrible if this does fall through:
Nico came from a second division team too but he was reportedly the best player in the league.

Back up plan? Talles Ma9no.I’m glad they are doing their due diligence. But where’s the back up plan? This is why working earlier in the window is better than later in the window for a position of need. MLS starts in 20 days and we still don’t have a striker.

I know we've signed lots of "injury-prone" players in the past, so I'm wondering if we're trying to change that and be more proactive in that field. I remember a few years ago (or was it last year???) where we had like half the front/middle injured.![]()
Machine translation:
"According to available information, the American club finally distanced itself after Sylla underwent a medical check-up in Manchester. In question, reservations linked to an old knee injury as well as certain traces of wear deemed problematic by the MLS franchise. An analysis that Schalke does not share, the player having never encountered any particular problem at this level since his arrival in Germany.
Repeated renegotiations would also have strained the situation, particularly on the structure of the contract. A loan formula had even been mentioned, without managing to unblock the file. As a result, the operation is now close to total failure."
And it being a knee injury in a league where there are multiple games played on turf.I know we've signed lots of "injury-prone" players in the past, so I'm wondering if we're trying to change that and be more proactive in that field. When signing a DP, this is the sort of stuff that should be considered in a cancel of a deal. Why spend 6m+ on someone that might get injured?
Good pointAnd it being a knee injury in a league where there are multiple games played on turf.
It could be that his nagging knee injury is the reason for his underwhelming season in which case we may have avoided a bad move. With that said, we are doomed from the start if we don’t sign a striker before the season starts. Sounds familiar.
If we sign a striker before the end of the winter window we're fine. We still have plenty of attacking talent. I don't want to wait until summer but we are fine if he makes his debut 5 games in or something.
Career 9 goals and 9 assists. He's young (23). So I might take a swing as a TAM. But not a DP.Anyway, I was doing some poking around the league during halftime, looking for "extra" strikers who might be looking for a change. This guy fits our budget, and Cagliari just signed a young Frenchman (who promptly scored in his first match), so Luvumbo might be available:
Yeah, I wouldn't stick my neck too far out on him, either. But it's worth noting, when Cagliari came back up a couple years ago, they had some pretty decent, experienced players in the attack. He was as good as any of them.Career 9 goals and 9 assists. He's young (23). So I might take a swing as a TAM. But not a DP.
