We can make this an early 2027 Schedule Thread. Sadly Sprint isn't company anymore to have a great sponsorship opportunity for the Spring season.

I don't recall the other thread but good to learn...
- Only playing same conference opponents for a total of 14 games, 7 home and 7 away (who gets the derby?)
- Only top 8 (rather than top 9) seeds make the playoffs
- Single elimination playoffs all the way through to MLS Cup in May

the original MLS article announcing the schedule change had these details in it. It's linked in the club website article as well. but having a summary here is nice too.

can we assume there's no leagues cup and all star game? haha

I know they need to fill time and make money but I'd be happy just to have an extended break. I'm not fan of mini seasons. MLS is Back was fine given the very strange circumstances.
Nobody needs this.

Either they are starting in early February or there will be a bunch of midweek games in this schedule.

Whatever. They are within their rights to make a little money while they do the switch. We are all within our rights to watch or not watch. I'll probably watch but this MLS Cup will have a real asterisk on it (not the fake asterisk Philly puts on everything they lose)
