I disagree. I think in soccer the nets would rather have a game in Portland over NYCFC. And since the Portland series is competitive Fox picks that game, unless something extraordinary happens in our match tonight, like a knife fight between the benches.

Why is that? Much smaller markets. Less star power.

1. Timbers among the top 3-4 well-known teams in MLS. [source: Me]
2. They have a national fan base.
3. Stadium atmosphere makes for great TV.
4. Portland metro MLS audience might rival that of NY-metro, and isn't split between 2 teams.
5. NYers grossly underestimate how much the rest of the country really doesn't care about us, even with a "root against" opportunity.

With all that, it's just my best guess. I don't know by any means.
