This is so insane.

The defensive responsibilities are so different between a RB and a DMid. The RB needs to be able to defend more in tight spaces and 1v1. What makes Ring so effective is his ability to read the play in front of him and break it up in space. He would lose that ability as a RB completely.

I mean I love Pirlo, but yeah.

Actually there are a number of examples of RBs who made great DMs (Lahm, Iraola at our level), or former DMs who became RBs (Zabaleta), but I just think this is a ridiculous usage of Ring.

I have been thinking about that game a lot. Every MLS team plays at the same time that day (Decision Day). If we're stuck in a 3 or 4 seed position and the outcome of our game and other games don't matter I see us resting our starters for the Wednesday play in game. If we can get a 1-2 seed and avoid the single elimination, do we play the starters and risk them not being rested if we have to play Wednesday?
