I don't want to dock you all your former analytic credibility, but with TMac and Pirlo in there together it has to be done. You must not have watched today's game.Wallace - Villa - Harrison
Moralez - McNamara*
Pirlo - Ring
Callens - Chanot - White
*Bonus points for Camargo in this spot.
It's obvious he wants a 3-4-3. He can get that with the same back 3 with Herrera and Ring sitting in front. Introduce Camargo to partner with Maxi and let Wallace and Harrison control the wide areas.
3-4-3

Why do our 3-4-3's look like a W-M?

We will lose. The end. Sorry for ruining the drama.
Today's game would have been completely different with an honest ref. Two valid PKs would have won us the game (if converted). We'd still be bitching, but it's easier to accept a crappy display when winning. That ref should be banned for the next dozen games. It's just so confusing how we can go from being awesome and enjoyable to watch (even when we drew or lost) to being all over the place, playing shitty soccer. That's after the team has had time to gel and so on.

I think we saw how crucial Mata is to our system. It's just so confusing how we can go from being awesome and enjoyable to watch (even when we drew or lost) to being all over the place, playing shitty soccer. That's after the team has had time to gel and so on.
Nice, I said the same thing in the Orlando post-match thread. So maybe I'm not crazy or both of us are.Aye its not a bad idea, but you cannot have Pirlo and TMac on the field at the same time, we get completely overrun. I think that we don't actually need more attacking talent on the field, but rather we need to free up the attacking talent we do have.
What about subbing Herrera for TMac and moving Ring forwards? From what I've seen Yangel is a very good Dmid and could probably free up Pirlo. Basically Herrera could act like Iraola last season and act as our defense in front of the defense. I don't have the charts but basically every time we can get Pirlo to start making passes in the opposing half we get a shot or score. Now I don't want to start confusing correlation with causation here, but it does feel like that if we can free up Pirlo we might be singing his praises again as he starts delivering dime passes into dangerous areas.
I thought it was the same 4-3-3. I saw the same thing with the switch and thought it was brilliant.I wonder how much the late lineup change (Mata getting hurt on Thursday) hurt. That basically gave us one, maybe two days of training with the new, improvised formation. Wallace did what he could, but he looked very uncomfortable back there. And the spacing between him, Maxi, and Tommy was so bad in the first half that I remember seeing Harrison switch sides at one point.
