With how tough the 4 games after this will be it's almost a must win.
The boys get a needed rest and won't play again until next Wednesday.

Kickoff 07/05 10pm
Broadcast
YES TSN1 & WFAN

I fly into DC at 9:30 so this should keep me entertained on the drive back down to Richmond.

You can't kill the rooster.

Available Players: Allen, Brillant, Callens, Chanot, Harrison, Herrera, Johansen, Lewis, Lopez, McNamara, Okoli, Pirlo, Rawls, Ring, Sands, Stertzer, Sweat, Villa, White
Int'l Duty: Awuah, Camargo, Johnson, Wallace
Injured: Matarrita, Moralez, Shelton
Loaned: Gomez, Mena

So we can do an starting 11 consisting of...

------Harrison--Villa--Lewis-------
---------------McNamara-----------
-------------Ring--Herrera---------
-Sweat--Callens--Chanot--Allen--

Bench: Brillant, Lopez, Okoli, Pirlo, Rawls, Sands, White

So essentially, yes Sands is above Stertzer and he's the only available player not making the 18 for this match.

I could also see Vieira starting Okoli and dropping Lewis to the bench to have a two striker formation with Villa towards the left.

WhoScored lists Vancouver's Defending of Wing Play as one of their worst traits, while NYCFC's attacking down the wings as one of our best. Would be surprising if we went with a front two with the starters for this game; quite possibly morph into it with substitutions.

Early Report on Vancouver's Missing Players:

Int'l Duty: Alphonso Davies, Marcel de Jong, Russell Teibert
Disciplinary: Matias Laba (Red Card in previous match vs. Chicago)
Injury Report per their last match...
OUT: D - Brett Levis (ACL tear)
OUT: D - David Edgar (PCL, MCL tear)
OUT: D - Kendall Waston (hand surgery 6/23, out 2-3 weeks) - READ (Trained fully in Chicago, though would be called up to Costa Rica)
QUESTIONABLE: F - Erik Hurtado (left foot contusion) (In the 18 vs. Chicago)
QUESTIONABLE: M - Nicolas Mezquida (right high ankle sprain) (Started in Chicago)
QUESTIONABLE: M - Yordy Reyna (foot surgery 2/21, out until summer) (Subbed in in Chicago)
QUESTIONABLE: M - Christian Bolaños (right shoulder sprain) (Started in Chicago)
QUESTIONABLE: D - Christian Dean (foot injury) (In the 18 vs. Chicago)

Is this a game we see Pirlo start? Not saying that's what I want, but I could see TMac replacing Wallace and Pirlo moving into the midfield. I just don't see Lewis getting the start considering he is barely making 18s at this point.

Interesting point. Pirlo's sub in the Minnesota didn't make any sense given we were 3-1 at that time. However, if he were to start in Vancouver that sub would make sense to get him some match experience rather than coming in cold.

I'd be fine with seeing Sands start next to Ring and Herrera move up to fill Maxi's position. I'm sure Herrera could do it but I doubt they start Sands that soon.

Might be a good game to try Pirlo with Herrera and Ring as MLS-level Pogba and Vidal replacements, with Pirlo getting the ball to Harrison and Lewis or Tommy just a step quicker and more accurately than Ring.

I haven't seen Vancouver at all, mind, so I'm going off of your WhoScored interpretation entirely.
