Hugely important. Plus the RB play Philadelphia this week and then Philadelphia plays Montreal next week. Will be very interesting to see if any team creates separation by the end of next week or if we all just take points off each other.
Don't forget that Cup games are next Wednesday - So Philly (a team that actually tries to win the cup) has a midweek game before their weekend tilt. That should affect their weekend play.

Side not on The Cup games - Ft Laudersale is playing Chicago - could very likely beat the Fire and find themselves in the Semi's.... Oh how that'd irritate the Kosmos delusional faithful....

Lol, they could qualify for the CCL but end up folding before they get to play. Their attendance this year has been downright catastrophic.

Ciman is huge for them. Piatti too. Drogba, of course. They could be without any or have all three.

Huge games these next two weeks. Going off PPG...

Sunday, July 17
#1 Philly hosts #4 NJRB
#3 Montreal hosts #2 NYC

Saturday, July 23
#3 Montreal hosts #1 Philly
#4 NJRB hosts #2 NYC

It's like we have our own little World Cup group.

Of course, our reward after those games is to get league #1 Colorado two days after the all-star game.

Shelton and Mata are not with the team.......

Wow. Without Mata, we are back to the big question mark at RB. Presumably, Allen moves over to the left. That's traditionally meant one of the CBs plays RB - White or Hernandez. Neither has worked out all that well. I would personally prefer Allen stay home and Martinez play LB - or even move Iraola back to RB and play Bravo at CDM.

Or maybe Gomez can finally see meaningful minutes.

You've got the host flipped for our second match.

Doesn't Chanot play some RB? I Chanot that without training, he couldn't be ready to play there in time!

I'd prefer Martinez in at LB in this scenario. And moving Iraola to RB and Bravo in I'd be ok with as well, definitely more than Hernandez or White at RB.

Will also be interesting to see what the 18 looks like on Sunday.

Don't touch Iraola at DMid. Ever. We've seen the last of his RB-ball watching forever.

Yup. Also to note after these 2 games, NYC will have finally overcome their home-heavy schedule. 22 played, 11 at home and 11 on the road. 12 games remaining: 6 at home and 6 on the road.

Win both, and you are looking at the clear favorite to win the East. Lose both...and you are back to struggling to get over the red line. 1-1 would be a great result. (Except if they win at Montreal...then you want at least a draw vs RBNY. Derby and all.)

Isn't Dallas league #1 now? Also, both Dallas and Colorado are great at home, not so much on the road. We get both of them at the bandbox.

If Drogba plays that means that Oduro, who was rested on Wednesday, is going to playing RW. Would rather have Allen out against him. Piatti red card means that we can probably get away with a Hernandez/White at RB, but I am getting to the point where I would rather see Gomez or Martinez pairing with Allen.

what's this about piatti red card? the referee saw the tackle and issued a yellow. I thought retroactive action could only be taken if the referee did not take action on the field?

If you endanger the safety of a player, DisCO can suspend and fine you regardless of whether or not the ref made the correct call. Alan Chapman has even said that it should have been a red card:
This also happened to us last year against the Fire: http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/04/29/matt-watson-incident-vs-nycfc-mls-disciplinary-committee

That's the normal FIFA approach, but MLS goes back and reviews things and can make changes. They don't do it very often (i.e. they didn't do it for Sam's tackle on Pirlo or his choke of Lopez). I don't think people would be focusing on it except for what the referee said after the match.

My guess is that Piatti and Drogba play and Ciman doesn't, but just a guess.
