CFG could easily find ways around this though in oddly structured contracts, signing bonuses, covering the players expenses, all things that NYCFC wouldn't be on the hook for.

is there anything out there to believe anyone does this around the MLS?

i think they tried this in liga mx like 20 years ago and was epic fail since the salary cap was met but clubs bought them cars houses etc to make up for it.

Maybe CFG says, hey you club in Sweden for example, you loan NYCFC x player, we'll loan you y player.
