Yeah that quote about academy players was in Spanish. He also talks more about the three-back formation. Some subtitles for these vids would be great.
Three CBs seems to be working well for us. It has allowed Sands to shine even more than he had been, and it allows Ring to sit a little deeper, which is better for him.
The question is who starts back there in place of Callens when he is out. The only possible justification for starting Rocha against Minnesota is that he (like Callens) is left footed. As we saw in Minnesota - better to go with a four man backline than start Rocha.
So, what happens if Callens gets some or all of a game off in this 3-game stretch? I am certainly happy to put Ibeagha in and have a right footed player on the left side (take your pick), but Dome seems fixed on wanted a left footer there.
At that point you have to draw a dotted line 10 yards before the half line on our side, and tell Ben Sweat under no circumstances is he allowed to cross that line. Then hope and pray James and Maxime are on top of their game that day
#1 sands was not the player he is now last season. He sort of makes this all work with his distribution as the middle CB.
#2 Heber & mitrita /Tati & isi play off each other and overlap with the FBs better than Villa & anybody last season did.
#3 would love to see yangel in the Ofori roll. But want to see Parks give it a shot. (Even tho Ofori was excellent last match).

The usual caveats apply, but this is the first time I've seen a journo come out and say parts of the locker room were unhappy with Dome (and complaining to management!) Not sure why Araos is picking now to air this dirty laundry but interesting nonetheless.

It’s Araos.
I've been talking about it a lot with TheToe, but it seems that Dome has found out that sometimes being a good coach is just throwing your best 11 out there and not trying to out-think the game. We're seeing less pointless possession, more freedom from our midfield to push the attack, and we're trusting our strongest unit, our back three, to not let us down.
Really enjoying this team lately. Hopefully we are seeing the development of a great coach.

Gotta say I'm a little disturbed by our readiness to make ad hominem arguments. Both because it could blind us to the truth RE: whether the locker room was inflamed by ITS being benched. And also because of our readiness to demonize Araos, even though AFAICT he operates without malice.
I suppose this should wait another game to equal a full season, but I don't feel like waiting 3 weeks:

I don't even know what to think about that. First 10 or 15 games, you could talk about the holdover effect or whatever. But 33 games is a lot. And it is now a completely different team than it was when PV left. So I guess I'm cautiously optimistic?...
Same. On the negative side you could point out the different quality team they took over, but why focus on the negative?
