I've never tried to bring mine in and may need to bring it tonight. Anyone have any problems? Thanks

This is going back to probably 2012 but my brother wasn't allowed to bring a tablet into YS by security
Had to check it at a somewhat shady locker spot nearby and get it after the game

Last match, my cousin went straight to the stadium from work and had to bring his laptop and they wouldn't let him in with it. He had to store it in some shady locker in a store near the stadium. I'd leave that iPad at home.

Hmm. I think maybe they changed the policy and now you can you can, but not with enough certainty to advise you to do so.
I am certain that when our season started it was prohibited, and that tablets appeared on the list of prohibited items in the same section as computers. But now that bullet point just reads "laptop computers," and the separate bullet point for televisions says "television sets, excluding television substitutes such as tablets" are prohibited. http://mlb.mlb.com/nyy/ballpark/information/index.jsp?content=entry
Which is a bit confusing because tablets are excluded from the excluded items list, and it's got that whole double negative thing going on.
If you google "yankee stadium ipad" you will find dozens of articles advising you cannot bring them. There is one ESPN blog entry saying the policy changed to allow them in 2012, http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/34172/ipads-now-allowed-at-yankee-stadium but plenty of others since then saying ipads are forbidden. And I cannot find one in 2015 announcing they are permitted.
And just to confuse things even more the NYCFC App has a section on prohibited items and the bullet point for televisions does not have the clause excluding tablets from the exclusion, which means you cannot even show the security person if they give you trouble.

What is the basis for this policy? Do they take away people's smart phones also (as there is almost no functional difference between a smart phone and a tablet)?

Smart phones are fine. I think they just classified ipads/tablets as computers, but frankly I'm not even sure why computers are banned.

Thanks everyone. It seems that the prudent move is not to chance it. Appreciate the responses.

Last week while at work during the Yankee home stand I saw a lot of people with their tablets in the stadium. So I'm pretty sure they're allowed now.

You mean, I can't bring my 50" HDTV to the game? Damn it all to hell!!!

It makes no sense. When we reached security, and they told use the laptop wasn't allowed, I started to argue with them to try to get an answer. Seems like they don't even know why they're banned. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that some wackos in the past made bombs out of laptops. That's my only guess.

Banning tablets is even more ridiculous because they're essentially big-ass smartphones.

I remember seeing a fan last year for a Yankee Stadium taking pictures with it. I would have banned it since its so annoying that someone takes pictures with that.

Call up Yankee Stadium (not NYCFC) before the game.
