Actually I think SKC and MLS are using some new "Keep good Americans home" unofficial rule to pay him more without going over the cap.Zusi is making 398k

On the issue of competitiveness/parity, just wait until (if) the salary cap is removed. Then you'll have the MLS resembling the big European leagues with a few dominant clubs (like Real Madrid, Barcelona and recently Atlético Madrid in Spain). Right now a few of the MLS clubs may not be as competitive as others, but the gap would only increase without the salary cap. And, for the record, I'm totally ok with that. It's like Major League Baseball, either your team has the resources to buy big name established stars (Yankees, Red Sox, etc.) or your team has to be better as player scouting and development.
Your post screamed this to me:On the issue of competitiveness/parity, just wait until (if) the salary cap is removed. Then you'll have the MLS resembling the big European leagues with a few dominant clubs ...
Remind us who was in the MLS Cup last year?Ok, so I just noticed that there is already a few relatively dominate clubs in MLS based on MLS Cup wins/appearances. (I've never been a big follower of MLS, but I've been watching more this season and I'm learning more about the league everyday). LA Galaxy have been in 8 MLS Cup finals and have won 4. DC United have been in the final 5 times and won the MLS Cup 4 times. Houston has been in the final 4 times winning twice. Out of the 18 MLS Cups awarded, that is more than half (10). Very impressive that LA has made it to the final 8 out of 18 years.
Most if not all MLS clubs domestically & internationally scout and have development academies. This is mandated by the league.
