Jack Harrison [Midfielder]

Bump:

Lurked on a few Leeds forums. Seems people are pretty happy to have him which is nice. I generally expect most football fans to be negative about all new signings so I was anticipating a lot of negative MLS talk but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Yeah saw nothing but positive in their twitter announcement. Was a bit surprising considering he hasn’t had many first team minutes since leaving NYCFC.

Harrison on at 89' in a 3-1 win for Leeds over Stoke at Elland Road.

Led a breakaway and should have earned an assist, and almost connected for a header that would have been a certain goal. Apart from that, was very tidy on the ball and far more adept at reversing out of dead end situations than we've seen him at NYCFC.

Very jarring to see him in another shirt I love, but I'm looking forward to more.

What are his prospects for starting?

If he's positioning himself as a winger, he's got Pablo Hernandez (last year's player of the season), Ezgjan Alioski and Samuel Saiz (former Real Madrid youth player who played a decent amount in the Spanish 2nd division) ahead of him. I think Bielsa will like his attitude, and improve him a lot as a player, since Harrison seems to take well to instruction and is generally ego-free. He will also improve playing alongside Saiz and Hernandez, I think.

I think he could work his way ahead of Alioski, honestly, who has tapered off in efficacy. If he can get a handful of productive sub appearances together I could see him spot-starting by February, and maybe winning the spot outright in the closing months of the season.

That was an interesting article. Basically the Leeds fans all have the same half and half reaction to Harrison as we did here. Along the lines of "he's brilliant but also we're not sure if he'll actually amount to anything in the end."
Sadly, I think that’s peak jack. He would only rise if he were in a better team. But he’s not good enough to ever make a better team.

Jack came on in the 79th of Leeds 3-0 thrashing of Norwitch. Seems like for now sub is his role with this team but at least he's getting some minutes, if not massive ones, compared to pretty much not seeing the field for Boro last year.
Still think he's a better shout for first XI than Alioski, but Alioski is permanent rather than on loan, which makes the barrier to entry higher. Commentators and fans appear to be of the same mind.
