Jack Harrison [Midfielder]

It's strange. His stats in the top flight have generally declined over time.

His first year in the EPL was terrific. Next two were solid. Last two - not so good.

To be fair, his underlying stats have not dropped to the same degree.

He's a pretty one-dimensional player and so it's possible that teams just learned how to hold him off. Premier League has really really advanced stats on players and I'm sure the defenders study their opponents well.

Come on home Jack! Every player dreams of being a club legend. Right now, he is just a guy who had a decent little run in the premier league, not a guy people will remember forever.
Come back home to the club where you are sort of memorable, where you can potentially make a huge immediate impact, open a new stadium, and if things go well be a club legend!

I have not watched much of him in the Premier League, so maybe he has changed, but I wouldn't call Jacks game one-dimensional with NYCFC. He was a complete winger during his time with us. High work rate in both directions, excellent off-ball movement both down the line and cutting inside. The ability to finish and pick out a pass. Swapping Fernandez for Jack would be a massive upgrade; his off-ball movement and the timing of his runs alone would make our offense significantly more dynamic.

I doubt it happens, but I'd love to see us switch to the 3 DP model for the remainder of the season and add both Jack and a high-level DP CAM. If they prefer the 2 DP model, they can switch back next season when Martin's contract is up.

Honestly the "open a new stadium" might be something that draws him back. The fans love him and what a better way to become the next Maxi than to be there for the new incredible NYC stadium (which hasn't been done in a long time) and help be the face of that!

Here are a few threads I remember reading about people who do watch him more:

I admittedly have rose colored glasses, but I find those posts encouraging for his prospects in MLS. Fairly consistent themes stating that he was played on the wrong side and isolated with a lack of overlapping support from the outside back, which is what he had at Leeds when he was thriving. Lots of mentions that he's talented and still extremely hard working.

To me, it reads like Jack is talented, but he's just on the edge of being good enough to consistently go 1:1 with Premier League fullbacks. Just barely below Premier League level is well above MLS level. Cucho, while younger, was essentially in the same situation, okay in the PL but probably just a bit below the talent level. he came to MLS and did amazing. I think Jack would thrive here. Ojeda and Fernandez weren't good enough to go 1:1 with a bottom-table USL team's fullbacks, Jack would be a massive upgrade.
