In more ways than one.
Figured I'd get some trolling in tonight.

Surprised you didn't stay to watch the whole game considering how expensive the average ticket is.I was at the game. Their listed attendance was 20,685 which is 5K or so from a sellout. About 40% of the supporters weren't in their seats at the start of the game. The lower bowl looked 85% full. The upper bowl (I couldn't see the non-suite side of the field) looked 60% full. Huge pockets of empty seats. 219 and 220 (where NYCFC sat for the 2nd match) was completely empty with just a sprinkling of fans. It's pathetic.
I left at the 70', beat traffic, don't give a fuck.

Why did you go to the game anyway?
Ah.My father wanted to see Red Bull Arena after seeing NYCFC matches at a baseball stadium.

The team with all those authentic, organic and grassroots fans have to resort to selling tickets on Groupon for the match against their most hated rivals.

I've always thought it was kind of unfair to label their fanbase plastic. Also needlessly derivative of British slang, but that's another issue. Their fanbase is limited, but they are passionate and committed. Pretending otherwise is itself unreal, fake, and OK, plastic.Ok I think to be fair their not plastic their just a small market. They have a hardcore support base but their relatively small. It's like the Devil's , Nets when they were in Jersey etc. market and fan base. Their not going to really appeal in NY or CT etc. despite putting New York in the name. The Patriots and the Revolution do the same thing by labeling themselves as New England instead of Boston or Mass try to claim all of New England but it doesn't work that well in Southern Connecticut at least.
I disagree with the whole small market argument. I think it's just lousy branding. NJ is a huge market. If they embraced that they are in fact the RBNJ they would have more than enough fans to pursue.Ok I think to be fair their not plastic their just a small market. Great dad you have! What did your father said? Was he impressed with our game attendance or he said "Balderdash!"![]()
I finally figured out why RB build a SSS in Harrison.
They wanted to get the Wallstreet office workers intrested and invested in the team. Think about it: the tain from WTC goes right to Harrison.
"Hey maybe if we appeal to the Financial District office worker, we can do good!1!1"
I don't know what it is about NYCFC fan's obsession with what Red Bull and their fans do or don't do. Who cares? And the term plastic is probably the worst term in soccer.
