Kids Who Escort Players Onto The Field

Does anyone know how these kids are selected - or will be selected by NYCFC?

My son is 7, loves soccer and I am taking him to the opening game with one of his friends. It would be great to have a chance to get him down on the pitch with the players he loves to watch.
Maybe try contacting them: http://www.nycfc.com/tickets/contactus

They might do things with local schools and whatnot, but write up a good enough note to them and you never know!

I'm taking my 7 year old as well. Let me know if you find any info out. Have no idea how they select the mascots.

My friends kids walk out with DC United. I'll ask her how they do it.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say most if not all of the kids are going to come from the Youth Affiliate Leagues like Gottschee, Downtown United, Manhattan Soccer Club, etc.....
That's probably very true.

A lot of times they offer it as an "experience" for season ticket holders. You get a certain amount of points and each experience cost XYZ points per.

for the european teams and what not- ball boys are usually from the youth teams, the mascots are from an affiliated youth organization usually

They responded quickly. The relevant part of the message is as follows.

Our Youth Soccer Club Partners get the privilege of escorting the players onto the field. If your son is part of a Youth Soccer Club please let me know and I will have one of our sales reps reach out to his team and discuss the possibility of the club becoming a partner.

Looking forward to seeing you March 15th for the home opener!

I also poked around the website and found a brief description of the program at the link below. Still no specifics on how to set it up, any cost, etc.

Well, there goes that. What is this program? Is it for teams or can I just sign up my kid? That page provides almost no info.

Thanks for the info.

I know this isn't a "kid walking onto the field" discussion but it reminded me of this:

I remember watching them walk out on the field and my heart dropped. Thankfully it was "only" alopecia and not something else that I'd rather not even think of.

Woah, I was planning on making a joke about Shelvey, in good fun of course, but then I read the article and saw he suffers from alopecia! I never knew he had that condition and it's really great he would do that for that kid.

I know that the Red Bulls used to sell their escort spots to clubs. They've been criticized for doing it so I am not sure if they have changed the policy. But it was considered an "Ultimate Fan Experience". The youth team would buy 40 tickets to the game and then the 22 kids would be the escorts for the players. There are also the flag bearers and logo carriers. I assumes we will see a giant NYCFC logo at midfield.

I think it's great if the team uses their youth affiliates, but they also could offer it up to other clubs as well.

Isn't that what the guy said?
