Great reading: Hudson Blue "Why Kreis was fired by NYCFC" from 11/3/2015.No one told him he had to play a 4-4-2 diamond.
No one told him to pick up injured MLS players
No one told him he had to take the job
Again, no one told him the DPs had to play in the 4-4-2 diamond
And he wasn't fired just for missing the players. We all saw that there was no plan moving forward. He said Chris Wingert, 32 years old, was a foundational building block for this franchise. That's just silly.
oops….that's articles on the SB Nation website…Hudson River Blues sectionGreat reading: Hudson Blue "Why Kreis was fired by NYCFC" from 11/3/2015.
I'm just hoping he can have a little more on-air personality than Donovan does - LD is a monotone extraordinaire that has the confidence of a deer in the headlights when talking on camera; granted, he slings with ease on twitter, but on camera its painful to watch/listen to.will he reveal anything of interest? bad mouth anyone? throw anyone under the bus? speak highly of grabavoy

Possibly neither. Now begs the question. What’s the fluke? His time at RSL. Or his combined time at both NYC & Orlando? I think it’s finallt clear what type of manager he really is.

Also, the coaching was shit. Especially Kreis. When Kreis was at RSL, Sigi Schmid was considered one of the best coaches in the league. I think the answer here is a combination of (a) players are more important than coaches and (b) times have changed.

Completely agree. If we're fair to Kreis, I don't think NYCFC really ever game him the control or power or resources that it gave to Vieira... he didn't seem to have much say in bringing in Pirlo or Lampard, and he sure as hell didn't get any say in Lampard not showing up... I think it was a poor choice for him to take the Orlando job, because that situation was unstable beyond the coaches control... that's not a winning roster.Players are far more important. Look at their roster. Maybe it's not as bad as their record, but they are clearly not one of the top 3-4 teams in the East. Why did NYCFC start turning this around under Vieira? The roster saw dramatic improvement starting in Year 2.
Coaching plays a part, but firing a coach midseason when a team is underachieving is one of the lazy sports tropes that don't really solve anything, this is just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Kreis had full control over the Orlando roster. He absolutely blew it up over the last 12+ months. Remember when he mortgaged their future by dealing all of their GAM/TAM starting with the Dwyer trade. It went downhill from there with his wheeling/dealing/cutting/signing. He created that Frankenstein’s monster of a roster.Completely agree. He just had a few good freestyle attackers that covered for him being shit.
