Kreis Out? Per Shep, It's Being Discussed Internally.

I think I know what the problem is with a lot of the fans on this site, and it is understandable, new team, new fans, some of you guys never followed MLS this closely, and the natural stupidity of fans emotions that think so extreme from one win to the next loss and vice versa, would have people like you think that firing one of the best coaches in MLS after one year on the job, is a viable option.

Fact is Jason Kreis is one of the best coaches in this league, one of the most respected coaches in this league and for good reason. Have you seen this team play when they have time together? Have you seen the instability in the roster ever since day 1, and yet he is fighting for a playoff spot (albeit 6th seed). And you think it would be a good idea to get rid of him for Sigi Schmid, a perennial underachiever of a coach? You think Kreis is a bad coach because of us not winning this year, I would have loved to hear your thoughts on Sigi when the Sounders were floundering without Dempsey and Martins this year. You would be saying where is the depth? Where is the system, why is Sigi playing this guy, why is Sigi subbing this guy etc. GTFO. Sigi has been almost fired a number times since his time in Seattle. Why? Because of under achieving every year, EVERY FUCKING YEAR! Yet you want that guy, why? Because you and the likes of you have no clue.

Sure he won an MLS cup but that was MLS 1.0. That shit doesn't count. The league is much different, much harder to win, and the teams are all around better. Btw I hope you all know Shep was talking out of his ass, as he usually does. You guys want to fire one of the best coaches that is just getting his feet under him with this organization, to bring someone who never really wins the big game, and to bring a new system, and to start all over. Again get a grip goodness.

Dude, the rumor didn't sound like a firing. It was more like a mutual parting of ways. IF Kreis is even halfway thinking he wants out, I damn sure don't want him around. He managed half the games this year like he had one foot out the door, and the last thing we need is someone who isn't totally committed.

I'm sure Jason was committed when he took the job, and I'm sure he has serious reasons to be looking for a way out if he indeed is. Whatever those reasons or who is to blame, he hasn't succeeded here and we deserve better than a manager who doesn't want to be here.

That's my point. I don't give a shit if it were Jose Mourinho, who I consider to be the finest organizer and man manager in world football, you can't have a coach who isn't fully there. I have no doubt part of Chelsea's issue right now is Jose's family situation. I have my doubts as to whether Kreis is fully onboard. If members of the team have that same uncertainty, not saying they do, but if, then we need a change. I personally doubt his commitment at this point, so I'm saying we should make a change.

I expected some bumps and missteps this first season from all involved, and that's what we have seen at all levels, from organization to individual players to JK to even the fans. None of that has been surprising, and I am sure the team expected some of that. I expect JK to be given another year to prove himself UNLESS: CFG believes he is not fully committed and/or wants to leave, he has lost the team and the team-level environment has become toxic, and/or he truly has been clashing with management. We don't know whether any of those exist or not. If they do not, he will be back, and as someone who is in the undecided group on JK (notwithstanding issues I have had with some of his tactics/decisions), I am comfortable with another year and do not disagree with that course. I also understand how others feel differently and respect that as well.

If you are going to hire Sigi, then hire Harry Redknapp. At least he's managed legitimate stars before.

I say no to retreads in general. Kreis is a smug little man and I want him out. But I don't think Sigi is the right choice.

The home run for this club will always be Bruce Arena.

The old Rex Ryan of the MLS. Rex 2.0 is actually in relatively good shape. lol

But yea... this seems like fluff. It seems people are really hell bent on creating all sorts of rumors surrounding NYCFC.
people read NYCFC stories....

Kreis responds ....

Araos was at practice. Before people jump on that last quote, he described Kreis' delivery as "conversational." Some things look uglier than they are in black and white. Just FYI!

The headline says "Kreis eschews rumored move to Seattle". However, as the story indicates, he did no such thing; he actually addressed the rumours head-on.

The only explanation for that puzzling headline is that the writer doesn't know that "eschew" means "avoid".

Good point. Have changed title to DENIES. I let it stand with the "labels reports ludicrous," but I see your point. Fair play.

And brother ... you KNOW I am always lurking. Read the forums everyday ... just dont always comment!

I didn't know what eschews meant until your post here.

I want to give Kreis another year. The fact that Pirlo and Lampard came mid-season prevented any chemistry to be built. Granted Kreis was partly responsible with his lineups but that's another discussion. As the season progressed, this team has gotten better and it wouldn't be fair to not give Kreis another year to build on that. We can be a top 4 team in the East easily.

A smart soccer mind doesn't bench a dominating young player all season, even after the player has show he's one of the best on the team, for a sack of shit like Grabavoy. Kreis is clueless.
Listen man, you have to understand that Kreis was using Poku when all of the other players were available as depth. As someone who can come in during the second half and give that spark that every team needs in every game. You don't show all of your cards at once. Now I have been critical of Kreis for not playing Poku more but believe me when I say this, there is more then meets the eye with Poku. Kreis likes him a lot and he has a big plan for poku moving forward. Just wait and see starting next year.
