MLS Academies and the Barca Threat

Honestly, the best thing an academy can do for a player's development - harsh as it sounds - is shut his parents out from actually watching him until he's old enough to not need to listen to their advice anymore.
Or work more closely with their parents. Given that most educational performance gaps are accounted for by parental engagement during school holidays (perhaps "vacations" is the term in the US)? Could be that the same applies in football development?
