Of note, Miami plays at KC on 2/18 and then vs. KC on 2/25 in CCC...so this match may have some roster rotation including after the long preseason tour the club went on in Vegas (1/18), Peru (1/29), Panama (2/2), Honduras (2/8), and Tampa (2/14).

I going to go out on a limb and say Miami's full rotation mode roster is going to be better than our current hole-filled, heavily development success-dependent mess of a roster we are about to enter the season with.

Haven't the slightest idea what's going to happen on the 22nd, but personally I think Miami is going to be a bust this season.

Messi, Suarez, and Busquets are all a year older. I'm too lazy to look up their respective ages, but I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say they're a lot closer to 40 than 30.

the thing with having messi on the squad is that the ownership also did a good job filling out the rest of the team. even with these guys getting older, the other parts of the team are fairly solid. at least in the midfield/attacking. their defense has always been their weak spot but i think i remember seeing them signing some defenders?

suarez and busi are probably the two who are hurting the most from the old age. messi has changed his style of play to match his fitness and age and can still be very effective.

everyone thought they would struggle last year and they won the shield.

no idea what's gonna happen, but based on our preseason games only (which i know doesn't mean much), i'm more worried about what's going to happen with us this season. hah

That's a lot of travel. On the one hand, we can hope for roster rotation and tiredness. On the other hand, they will probably be in more complete form than we will.

Busi was struggling down the stretch last season as he doesn't have the legs to cover all the miles anymore. As long as he stays healthy I think Suarez will be fine, all he has to do is drift around, find space, and either finish or pick out a clever pass to an open teammate, all things he does far better than a typical MLS striker. And he gets to do it while every defender on the pitch is trying to keep one eye on Messi.

Messi cried and said it was too cold and he wouldn't play so they moved the game. The field is heated. You don't see the rest of the league crying when they have to play in Miami and August when it's 95 out with 97% humidity.

Maybe others feel differently, but I am very over the Lionel Messi in MLS experience. It has felt, for the last 12 months, like a way to separate American soccer fans from their money instead of a sporting venture. Messi getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last year didn't do anything to quell my "scam" meter.

I'm glad it happened, and I'm glad I got to see him in-person for the first time in my life, but I'm ready for Messi to be done in Miami.

Busquets, Messi, and Suarez all starting tonight at Sporting KC in Champions Cup.

Temperature at kickoff was 2 degrees. Imagine that being a midseason weekday game in MLS if they switch the schedules. Imagine hosting an MLS game this week after the weather we've had, the weather we have every year around this time.

it'd be fine. bundle up, get hand warmers. use those scarves we rarely get to use. looks like a pretty healthy crowd to me. .. are they braving the cold to see messi? haha

Both of these can be right. It would be brutal. And it would be fine. We'd adjust. Some people wouldn't go. Others would. Tradeoff for the value of matching the world schedule.
