MLS - March 8 - Orlando (YS)

As incomplete as this roster is, through 3 games we are punching way above our weight. Should have had four points on the road trip, now a solid win against Orlando.

Really enjoying the start of the Pascal Jansen era. Need David Lee to make some significant upgrades though, because Game 3 can not have two goalies on the bench and only four MLS players available. This roster, despite the positive results so far, is unacceptable.

Glad we got the win. Proud of the guys for immediately responding after giving up a goal.

We had four guys out there who were either Academy or Deuces players. That's something to be proud of.

234 was rocking tonight. Good to be back home, although Yankee Stadium has got to do better. The beer selection is god awful and the venue didn't open until six. I had to race to meet Poku, Allen and the Human Victory Cigar. Also, the app cashing was SOOOO NYCFC.

I appreciate the club listing us Founding Members throughout the match.

Agreed. Team is playing well given the limitations.
What a disaster getting into the stadium today.

I waited almost 20 minutes to get through the final 200 yards to the Ruppert Garage, but no issue getting in the stadium. I think they fixed the ticket issue while I was waiting to park. Or maybe the ticket issue affected the parking vouchers.
Thanks to Gallese for the win.
Barrazaesque.

didn't catch the game, but watched the highlights. happy to see shore get the start and seems like he did really well.

jansen has the team pressing and hunting, which is nice to see. some more organization and cohesion between the players is needed, but that will come.

sucks otoole had to take a 2nd yellow for a red. guess cavallo is next man up.

that bench looked sad with 2 keepers on it.

from what i could tell from the highlights, we looked decent. yankee stadium grass looked like a mini golf course.

We're punching well above our weight right now. A couple more players and we're going to really be something.

Stepping outside our bubble: Brought two people tonight. One is an extreme casual and the other was his first MLS match ever. They both enjoyed themselves thoroughly. They couldn’t believe this was Shore’s first home start and that he was 17…

Back in the bubble: objectively we were by far the superior side tonight.

Aside from a few minutes late in the second half we were not in much defensive danger most of the match.
Julian is making strides. Core was pretty solid. I want Wolf’s last touch to be better. I wanted Mounsaf to be more pestilential. Agu still needs to be more assertive.

And this roster could be so much stronger. I love the development but I don’t want to rely on Maxi for so many minutes at his age. We are very thin and to hear Sims tout the strategy of being deep instead of star-reliant rings false right now. Porque no los dos?

Still, nice win.

As for YS, we have officially entered the “mailing it in” stage with the Yankees. Thank god I have clear so we breezed through entry (though even finding the Clear entrance was something out of Zelda…)
Team store being closed, bunch of food stands gated shut, etc. Damn.

And nice to see the Founding member scroll (though I didn’t see my own name — one of the goals overrode it and I’ll take it. One of my buddies saw it though).

But the team continues to self-own. The beanies were cheap repeats of the 2023 ones (didn’t get one but whatevs), no Blitzkrieg Bop, etc. and the ushers don’t care (though that cuts both ways).

All gripes aside, still happy. But we should be doing even better.
