MLS - May 31 - Nashville (Away)

Can’t really complain. A road point is an acceptable result especially against a hot team. First half was ass, but that’s why they play 90’. Certainly better than Wednesday.

With all that said, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dropoff in quality from one match to another back to back between two teams I support quite as precipitous as the drop between PSG in the final and our first half. Positively jarring.

My brother who barely watches any football remarked that our first goal looked like U-10 house league quality.

Nonetheless, props to the boys for not giving up. And Risa showed glimpses of why we signed him. And happy for Wolf.

the first goal was U-10? that was a pretty well worked goal with crisp, quick passes through the middle. U-10s your brother watch must be ELITE!

2nd goal was just messy but was created by a header win by parks.

Pascal's moves got us a point, so it feels wrong to question them, but why does he keep subbing on Fernadez at CAM over Carrizo? In his limited appearances, Carrizo has looked dangerous at CAM. He moves well in space, sets others up, runs a nice give and go, and looks all around like a natural CAM.

Julian can't sort out his positioning in his natural position on the wing. Why on earth are we putting him in the middle of the field? Twice, Keaton was carrying the ball forward, and Julian ran towards him and got in his way. At one point, the announcer said, "Look how deep Fernandez is playing, they have him set up like a deep lying 10." Anyone who watches Fernndez week in and week out knows that wasn't a set up that was Fernndezing being lost on the pitch and not knowing where to be. The only passes he makes are back passes or crosses when he's on the wing; he has never picked out a pass to set a guy up the way a natural CAM would.

Is Carrizo not ready? Are they being overprotective of him? Does Lee and the front office want Ojeda and Ferandez on the pitch as much as possible, and Pascal is going along with it? I just cannot understand how a guy with zero positional awareness and zero progressive passing skills is our backup CAM.

Very happy with the tie! Watching the second half I didn’t think the boys had it in them to come back and snatch a point from the jaws of defeat. We are finally showing some glimpses of being able to break down a low block, even if it’s from set pieces. Proud of Wolf’s work rate all game and I’m glad he got the goals to show for it. Parks really is a special player. Win at home and tie on the road. To get the tie in Nashville after a 3 games in 6 days stint is very impressive.

Think I got them mixed up. Got an early start on the beers because of UCL final

He's streaky, but you can really ride one of his hot streaks

Yeah, but I think the streakiness is more about the others around him than Wolf himself being streaky. He gets most of his goals and assists from link-up play or clever off-ball movement and anticipation once the defense starts to react to others making a play.

I think you put a DP10 and DP wing out there with Wolf, as FootyLovin is suggesting, and Wolf's streakiness goes away.

Is Carrizo still on an off-roster Homegrown contract? I think he's been in four regular season matches so far, which would leave him with just two more if that's the case. Correct?

If he's not restricted and he's just on a straight first team contract with no restrictions, I agree: I would much rather have seen him subbed on yesterday rather than Fernandez.
