MLS - May 8 - Orlando (Away)

This morning I check to see which media platform(s) will be showing the match. ESPN! Great. I set my DVR, knowing I'll need to start the match late.

6:40 PM rolls around and I can start the game. I settle in. I turn on the TV and navigate to my recordings.

<PLAY>

It's a goddamned softball game. Nowhere near over.

I sigh and flip over to the ESPN+ app.
OH RIGHT, THERE'S NO 'START FROM BEGINNING' OPTION.

Welp, I guess I'm waiting for the match to be over so I can watch it then.

MLS's current media rights deal is an absolute crime against their fanbase.

Also how incompetent is espn when a softball game ends 55 minutes after the allotted time without rain or extra innings. There was no way it could have ended on time, and ESPN don’t care.

If you tell me before the game both Moralez/Morales are out and we get a point I’d be thrilled.
Our lack of depth in the creative areas showed again, but the team has been playing well. A lot better then I thought we’d look coming into the season.
Prayers up that the Tinnerholm injury is minor.

Someone ask David Lee if he still isn’t sure what this team needs? What a cop out by this front office.

in unrelated news, Chicarito just scored again

Medina has been fine this season. I think he’s played well. Definitely the old Medina not finishing.

if it was the start of the game - yes. but at the last minute when he clearly lost his legs even prior to that play - it's understandable that he doesn't finish. not what we want, but it's not easy to be precise when your legs feel like rubber.

part of a larger issue. Our team doesn’t look fit. Already picking up knocks. And we look gassed after 30 minutes in all of our games this season.

yea but it is difficult to prepare for florida heat/humidity no matter how fit you are. but fitness has always been an issue for us early in the season and it's pretty clear why if you watch training videos. the players don't really try their hardest during the conditioning drills.

We go down a goal and the manager is forced to make 3 defensive subs and leaves one sub unused because the franchise is asleep at the wheel

The good: we walk away with a point
The bad: so many to choose from
The ugly: also a good variety of which to pick from but I say the running theme of the
final third.

I’ll also say ITS was good today because without him we lose today.
I know people think bringing in more attackers will elevate this team to Championship caliber but is there any thought that maybe the problem is more than just personnel? Why does the attack look so disjointed and uncreative? Taty, Medina, ITS, Maxi... all have talent but it seems like we should be getting better looks/shots by having individuals receive the ball in better positions. Just a thought... happy with the point but hope this team starts clicking on more cylinders moving forward.

We had a chance to win this game and I didn’t think we even deserved a draw.
I’ll take a point here but this team is missing a finisher. There’s also no one on the team that wows on the field. I miss the days Villa would pick the ball up and you’d almost expect him to do something amazing every single time.

MLS affords you the ability to have 3 guys on the roster that can create something out of nothing. Nani scored a worldy today.
There is no excuse for why we do not have an offensive player on this team that MLS is advertising weekly with prime time national television games.
Chucharito. Vela. Nani. Josef Martinez.

my thoughts exactly all game long. our attackers don't have great chemistry. a lot of passes going where they shouldn't and not a lot of combinations when there easily could be. team as a whole looked liked they were dragging from the heat but the lack of chemistry has been evident for a few games now. what could it be? who knows. but taty definitely seems to enjoy playing with heber or ITS more than medina.

a word of praise to acevedo.. he didn't really STAND out in any way but i don't think he had a horrible game. his first start in a long time and he played a full 90, which i'm sure he was very happy about. his two long passes created two breakaways that should have resulted in goals. had we clinical finishers, we would have left orlando with a 3-1 win.

Acevedo had a few moments to forget but we do play parks as a starter so... I think cahcha has looked good with the long ball from day one. I have hope the rest of his game catches up.

part of the problem is how do you attract a player to NY with ronny and lee at the helm and a city in shambles at the moment?

taking an MLS paycut for most of these DP class players has to mean something and if all they care about is getting that last paycheck, it's not even worth signing them because they'll just piss us off with their lack of effort and/or effectiveness.

Lee has also made it clear that the club's strategy is not to go after aging european stars. we need a martinez or vela type signing. a zelarayan type signing. its surprising that CFG is unable to find these types of players and get them.

Agreed. It's hard for a player to buy into the project at this point with no stadium plan during their career with the club.

We're not a new, shiny club anymore.
