This is problematic. There must be a less intrusive way and and I will have no part of it. This is my favorite away trip and I will not attend if this remains their policy. Thoughts?
Considering what I've read about thier SGs behavior and their security's apathy towards it, I wouldn't bother going there anyway. At least as a SG with a target on my back. You're probably better off and safer buying individual tickets and going in the normal entrance.
i thought it was due to whole crap that happened last season vs toronto and all the flares etc.
did anything happen when nycfc fans went there last year?
I don't know about the flares. But I hope you're not excusing ambushing fans outside the stadium and hitting women in the face with batons?

yes. the SG purchases a bulk of tickets on members behalf and distributes to those individuals. No individual info provided apart from the responsible group leaderAre these rules imposed by Montreal different from any other venue?
That is definitely a reason; probably the reason.
Nothing happened to anybody when we went up there. The fans that we encountered were great and we all took the train to the game and walked to the stadium entrance without issue. I know their ultra group can be obnoxious but we never ran into any of them.
We were even hanging out outside the stadium after the game. We were hanging out for probably 30-40 minutes after the game and never had one problem.
I've been 2 times, by the way. I went another time to watch Landon Donovan play his last game in the East.
Reach out to the NYCFC front office and have them work something out with Montreal. If not, contact the Garbs directly. This is some French-Canadian búllshit.
Probably because damages were done by visiting supporters last year... (toronto) benches were burnt, etc. Flares thrown near family section... Safety is priority. Are these rules imposed by Montreal different from any other venue?
I have no horse in this race, because I don't travel to away matches, but if there was a problem with a particular visiting team last year (Toronto), then Montreal should be leveling draconian policies on Toronto and *only* Toronto. To make it an across-the-board policy for all traveling SG's is insane and dickish by Montreal's Front Office. Last year, there were problems with NYCFC traveling to Red Bull Arena, and what happened..... RB levied new draconian policies at ONLY NYCFC, no other traveling fans were affected. This is the crux of the problem that everybody is unhappy with, Montreal feels justified to lump every SG together because Montreal has a problem with Toronto (perhaps that's where the French-Canadian reference is coming from, since it's well known that French-Canada and non-French-Canada don't always feel touchy-feely with each other).Probably because damages were done by visiting supporters last year...
