Yes. You can't buy US national team jerseys in long sleeved but they players wear them. Something you can get them from people who get player issued gear.
I'll now have to beg the kitman to get me one or two to wear for those games were it's a bit windy or chilly for a just a short sleeve kit. I really enjoy the long sleeve kit plus vest combo.
Would think the league will see a drastic drop in authentic short sleeve jerseys if there are no long sleeve. It’s one thing to pay the upcharge for the long sleeves, but the difference in authentic/replica is pretty small considering the price savings.
And just a strange decision all around since Adidas sells long sleeve kits of euro clubs in the stores, so it’s definitely MLS making the call in a vacuum. It’s past time for clubs to control their kit suppliers.

Difference between European LS versions and MLS is that MLS versions were authentic and $150. European LS are replica and $100. I think the MLS would be better off going the replica long sleeve route, makes sense monetarily and I think it would raise sales, being that people wouldn't have to spend an extra $50. Just leave short sleeve authentic if people really want an authentic kit.

The soon-to-be-former home kits are pretty well marked down on the team store ($72 for an authentic, $55 for a replica). Don't remember who was looking. Maybe the new ones will drop this week?

I really just don't understand the point of the line across the chest.

It's pretty absurd to hold out this long. We're not alone though. Houston, DC, Colorado, LAFC and Seattle also haven't released yet.
