It worked out nicely for me. I bought a jacket last week that didn't go on sale and I'm able to stock up this week on all the stuff that did.
Damn. The hoodie I preferred sold out of size XL. See? Buy early, buy late. Everything's a trade-off.

An alternative explanation is that they ordered 25,000 units and only sold 3,000 (I'm making up numbers here). So after a month they had to put them on sale to get them out of the warehouse. It may be that they greatly overestimated the demand.
I actually think the Fanatics branded stuff is made on demand. They can sell them for half off and still make $$$.
That might be true. I also expect the demand curve on these types of items drops very fast. If you don't buy a championship shirt or cap in 3 months you probably never will. So if you want to get people to pull the trigger, as the combo of the sale and the Amex $20 rebate did for me, you start the sale 6 weeks after the event.
Except as I mentioned one hoodie is out of stock for size XL. Unless they are out of blanks, but they have another hoodie that seems to be identical except for the printing, and it is available in all sizes.

Interesting getup with the cargo pants too... the lads will have plenty of extra space for other goods when they travel! Too bad they aren't cup shaped to hold all the mate/ terere that our SA contingent loves to travel with.
