In celebration of New York City FC’s Home Opener the Empire State Building will once again turn Blue to display the Club’s colors on March 13.

While the city celebrates the Club, the Club will also honor the city it calls home at the 2016 Home Opener against Toronto FC in a number of unique ways.

The National Anthem will be performed by New York City Police Officer Jason Martinoff from the 13th Precinct in Manhattan. Martinoff has performed the National Anthem during several high profile events in New York City events including a Billy Joel concert.

NYPD and FDNY will continue to play an integral role in the match day experience at Yankee Stadium with The Tunnel of Honor leading the player procession.

New corner flags will be on display for the 2016 season, designed to showcase the colors of the flag of New York City, which the Club’s badge is also based on.

As for the match itself, New York City FC takes on Toronto FC with Sebastian Giovinco, who was the 2015 MLS MVP. Giovinco scored 22 goals in his debut season. The team also features Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley, two members of the 2014 United States World Cup Team.
