Nfl And Relegation?

Can the NFL use relegation and promotion? Yes they can!

The leauge has 32 teams. 32 teams is a shit ton of teams.

if NFL ever wanted to use promotion and relegation, they would first need to get rid of the AFC/NFC way or organizing things.

Next it would be to decide how many sub divisions they want. I think 2 is good.

The botttom 16 teams become the "Champion Football Leage" (D2)
The top 16 teams become the "NAtional Football Leage" (D1)

The two bottom teams at the end of the season from the NFL (d1) will drop to the CFL (d2)
The top 2 teams at the CFL will go onto the NFL.

each league would have its own Super bowl held a week apart so theres no confusion.

Yeah I can really see half the league voting to make their teams instantly worth 20% of what they are worth now.

Promotion and relegation doesn't seem to add anything to the games. Sure you get a high draft pick but you don't see teams tanking the way you do in NBA or MLB. All of the games are meaningful until the very end. I'm just not sure how pro/rel makes NFL any better.

I can see an argument that using it in college football, which desperately needs something to pare down the number of teams eligible for the national title, would be useful but not NFL.
