I didn't think this had to be mentioned given the name Supporters Section makes it obvious but since this has come up on Reddit why not address it here too?

Please… don't bring opposition fans into the supporters section.

"But NYCFC fan what if I want to sit with my friend who's a die hard (insert team) fan when we play them at the stadium?"

Well there are three possible solutions.

1) ask your friend to not wear their opponent's teams gear in the SS.
2) sit with your friend in the designated away supporters section
3) sit literally anywhere else in the stadium

Yes I know you're paying for the tickets but this is literally the only part of the stadium you aren't welcome if you're an opposition fan. This part of the stadium is reserved for fans of the home team. Fans who want to sing together, laugh together and have a good time.

No, no one will hit you but people will in all likelihood harass you verbally. You have to realize their presence will be unwelcome. No one wants to see someone gloating when their team is doing poorly.

Finally, if you're a season ticket holder who invites opponents into the supporters section there's a special place in hell for you.

^^This!! Absolutley NO opposition should be in supporters section. If anyone thinks that they can bring a friend who is an opposition fan then they do not understand what the supporters section is really for.....

This blew up on Reddit when a Philadelphia Union fan said he wanted to wear his jersey in the supporters section.

Even people in Sons of Ben (Union Suporters Group) told him it wasn't cool. They pointed out that security wouldn't even let opponents fans into their section and rightfully so.

Doing this just creates the formula for bad things to happen. You have the other 95% of the stadium in which to sit. For the good of both the supporters and the opposing fan, security should simply not allow someone cheering for the other team to sit there.

I have mixed feelings here, and I hope as a college football fan you can sympathize at least a little.

There is a difference between being in the SS and acting like an ass, and being in the SS and being aware of your surroundings. I know we've both seen opposing fans in our students section, and while they are usually the butt of jokes it rarely gets out of hand. In fact when they're a good sport about it and understand their surroundings usually it provides and even better experience. Now some may think that is a minority of situations, but I recollect the vast majority of opposing fans in the student section knew exactly what they were getting themselves into.

I really don't mind a few opposing fans as long as theyre a good sport about it.

but if you let a few in, that shows that we allow that kind of stuff and thats how the section starts to lose its credit... it's not a supporter section for all supporters. its a supporter section for NYCFC supporters... pretty soon half the sections just gonna be regular people/other fans mixed in with some third rail/other SG's... then we dont have much of a supporter section anymore... and we hear everyone complaining "237 wasnt loud enough....third rail isnt good.... they need to do better... (insert complaint here)"

We have to refuse them for many reasons but thats a NO in soccer and you dont see that in other countries !!

I spoke to a rep from fan services to ask what the policy was and as of now

"Away supporters will not be turned away"

So there it is. The club will officially allow entry to anyone in the supporters section with a valid ticket.

The Yankees have yet to respond to my inquiry.

This is a fair point. I certainly had friends from other schools join me in the student section back in the day. But I also think that was not totally unusual or unexpected. The nature of a supporters' section is a little different.

Maybe put those neo-nazi fans at the entrance to the section. That would turn the opponents away.

In RBA, the team doesn't sell the supporters tickets in 133, 101, or 102 online, INITIALLY, without a code provided by the SG. If it gets close to game day and the sections aren't sold out, only then do they release them for sale online. Even then there is a disclaimer that it's the home teams sections, standing, singing etc.

This sounds like the reasonable way to handle it.......
