After clinching a spot in the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs for the second year in a row, New York City FC today announced the 2017 playoff ticket timeline and pricing.

The club has also announced that tickets will be limited to the lower levels of Yankee Stadium, and the 300 and 400 levels will not be opened.

City Members have first right of refusal for their seats, and tickets will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, October 18.

SCHEDULE SCENARIOS

While the Club is currently in second place in the Eastern Conference, playoff seeding is not yet finalized as there are still three games left in the 2017 regular season. As a result, there are three potential home playoff game scenarios.

New York City FC finishing as the number 1 – 2 seed:

If NYCFC finishes as the Eastern Conference’s first or second seed, the second leg of the Conference semifinals will be played on Wednesday, November 1, instead of Sunday, November 5 due to an event that will take place at Yankee Stadium scheduled prior to the 2017 MLS season.

New York City FC finishing as the number 3 – 4 seed:

If the Club finishes as a three or four seed, a Knockout Round game would take place at home on either October 25 or 26. With a win, the Club would qualify for the Conference semifinals and would host Leg 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on October 30 or 31.

New York City FC finishing as the number 5 – 6 seed:

If the Club finishes as a five or six seed, the team would play the Knockout Round game on the road. With a win, the Club would qualify for the Conference semifinals and would host Leg 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on October 30 or 31.

Ticket Info:

Members have first right of refusal on their seats and can save up to 35% throughout the Playoffs (not including MLS Cup). As a thank you for your extraordinary support this season, prices for the Knockout Round & Conference Semifinal are the same as you paid for a regular season match.

Tickets for the Playoffs work the same, convenient way as your City Membership – if you want your seats, there is nothing else you need to do. We will simply charge the same credit card used for your 2018 season payment plan.

Opt-Out Info: For Current 2018 City Members
If you don’t wish to purchase your seats for Playoffs, you must let us know by completing the Playoff Opt Out Form by 11:59PM EST on Monday, October 9. If we don’t hear from you, we will charge the amount due for the first playoff game to the credit card that was used for your 2018 season payment plan on Tuesday, October 10.

That is effing INSANE. This is because of the football game scheduled for Nov 4th.

Sure but the team we play will have played a playin on the 25/26, then the same 30th & 1st second round games. If anything, the fast turnaround is really a lot better for the team with the bye.

yes, unless they switch it with the western conference first leg which is on sunday ( and better for me since its weekend) then its two days which is crazy.....if it happens then it will suck for whatever team wins the playoff and have basis for complaint...three games in a week

BUT.....if we dont get a bye then its wed/ mon/ sunday though we would have playoff game on a monday which would suck a lot

Yup if anything this favors us because we SHOULD have more depth than whoever we’ll have to play. I’d say only Toronto challenges is from a depth perspective.

Yup if anything this favors us because we SHOULD have more depth than whoever we’ll have to play. I’d say only Toronto challenges is from a depth perspective.

Atlanta could really be fcked having another three games in a week with the third only two days after the second. There will be constant cries of "medic!" from the field as they drop with hamstring and groin tears.

Edit: and let me add, IF we are #2 and Atlanta is #3, we should turn the second leg into a total track meet. Wear them down physically in the 1st leg, and the second should have as much speedon the field as possible to force them to stop/start on really fatigued legs. I guarantee we'd win the war of attrition in that game and the last 20-30min would be awful for their players.

Nope, they changed the pricing this year. Last year the pricing was more than Regular season but not like this year and not with an extra jump.

Yes. Even if they move up the first leg a day or two you still have a team playing 3 games in 7 days (25th, 28th/29th, nov 1st). And that's the best case scenario.

I know what you're saying but I don't think there was an increase during the playoffs (from one round to the next) last year, just the initial price increase after the final match of the regular season.

I'm saying that the advantage of hosting the second game at home is negated by the compressed schedule. Compressing the travel time (NYCFC would travel to location and back home vs knockout seed just travels once to NYCFC) exacerbates the effects of the travel.

Atlanta would feel pretty good to win a knockout round game at home and then smack NYCFC at the Benz and effectively end the series before the home leg even is played.

There is a lot of discussion about whether it is an advantage for higher seed to have the second leg at home because it allows two consecutive home games for knockout round winner to build momentum and play the series on their terms. Exactly what happened last year in Toronto.

meh ....toronto was almost the same....except it was over in like the 5th minute of the second leg at home.

reddit is fuming over this lol....still according to Aaros the first leg moves to weekend, so making the euro type thing where you play midweek/weekend/ midweek

of course all of this changes if we drop to 3
