That was fun to watch. Gio and sands are good. sands little bro wasn’t bad. 40 was fast. 5 played ok. Wanted to see more from Haak.

I asked Claudio after the game when we would have a USL team. He told me 2020. Said that it’s a big cost, and there have been a lot of moving pieces with the league—D2/D3, etc. But said emphatically that “we really, really want it.”

I think galaxy are young too though (certainly llanez and Alvarez are on the young side). Someone not named Aguero-kun should check the average ages of the teams through the tournament, I think. My guess is the better teams will generally be younger.

Penaranda made two huge saves in extra time then came up big in the PK shootout.

He was really really good. He and Sands are a great pair back there. I like Owusu. Athletic, strong, fast, pretty damn good with ball and plays penetrative (heheheheh) passes.

Often has far too strong a first touch and turns the ball over as result as well. Dude needs to stick around, screw Europe.

He’s not hyped. That’s what none of us understand.

And did you see the way he protected the defense? He was standing up Llanez and Alvarez all over the pitch. Those guys are rated right up there with or above Gio, and Haak managed to largely make both look mundane in any duel, while also being excellent in possession and bringing the ball forward.

If you weren’t impressed with him, then you might want to skip watching youth matches for NYC, or any national team for that matter. He was absolute class. Plays a very mature #6 game for a teenager.

I’d rather see that than some physical beast out there shoving folks off the ball and running past people.
