sucks for us, but it is what it is. if he didn't want to sign for the club, what can we do?
Shove him in a jail cell underneath the training facility, torture him until he signs the contract. That'll teach 'em to not sign for us >:D

Not that one or two camps is make or break, but kind of embarrassing that our academy was not able to get one player on the U20 roster for this upcoming tournament after also not having anyone on the Concacaf team earlier this year. A far cry from our back to back DA winning groups.

IIRC there is no U20/U19 team. it only goes up to U17 and thats it. there are some academy players in NYCFCII but they go back and forth from that team to U17.

It's a fair question to ask why we don't have anyone represented on this team given our history of having multiple people on the USA youth teams in the past - even if they were not active academy members.

One thing to note is that nobody on our senior team right now would currently qualify. Players have to be born in 2003 or later, and nobody on the team is younger than 2004. Guys like Grey, Haak, Jasson & Benalcazar are all 2001 or 2002. McFarlane is 2007 and Carrizo is 2008. Given the tight time frame, it may just be that there is a bit of a gap in the quality coming out of our academy. If you look at the players getting called up, they are all contributing substantially to MLS teams - we have young guys like that, but they are 1-2 years too old.

p.s. Gio Reyna is also too old, but barely - born in Nov 2002.

Not a whole lot of mind blowing information, but posting for those who may be interested.

He said all the right things. From an organizational perspective, you're looking for strategic alignment all the way through. And it's good to know we're serious about really building out our youth system. Great to see that little bit at the end about the U14s and U15s traveling to Manchester.
