i disagree here. If you saw the amount of people watching the stream... about 50k?... then this is great marketing for nycfc. I kept seeing "NY is blue" in the comments. I hope Chris wins the emls cup and brings us good vibes for this year.

eMLS really needs to announce when players will be playing. The broadcast started at 3 PM and NYC_Chris started playing at like 7:45 PM.
i was relying on the official nycfc twitter feed for any notification when he was up. Im sure they will do the same today.
My personal take is good for him! The club has some how made a really good signing with him. But from my perspective, hes just a guy wearing our colors. Happy that hes winning but will totally forget about his achievements in the next couple days until he wins again and i think, oh yeah that Chris guy whos good at fifa won again, good for him.

I imagine lots of people do or they wouldn't be pushing it so hard. It's personally not my cup of tea, but to each their own.
Also, one of the ways to get it to be a thing is to push it until it sticks... I don't see the problem with them doing it, especially it being the offseason right now and at least it's something to make the offseason go by faster. I don't understand why people are so annoyed by the team and MLS talking about it.
I don't care, but it's annoying that this stuff keeps showing up in my twitter feed even though I have "emls" "didychrislito" and even "squirrelfifa" muted. Also, when we go like 48 hours here with almost no posts and then suddenly there are 5 but 4 of them are about this. Also there's the whole phenomenon of watching almost every CFG club win a cup or trophy but NYCFC only wins a video game treble.
But yes, life's too short to worry about people who pay attention to dumb things when I've got my own dumb things to pay attention to.

I see ads for NFL games even though they're the most highly rated TV shows in the US.
I care about NYCFC eSports just because it's an extension of the club and something else to root for. My eSports player is doing better than your eSports player.
Personally I find it irritating, and I kind of resent the suggestion that our eMLS success has any bearing on the club as a whole, or relevance to my support. Maybe there's some branding/fan engagement benefit that I just don't get, but I see it as a fad and a sideshow tbh.

This is my first post here in a while mainly because the lack of interest ownership has showed in the team has really made me lose interest. I am sure Chris is a fine young gentleman, but the fact that more than 50% of NYCFC's tweets in 2021 are about him and not the team is all you need to know about where this team is headed without some drastic changes.
nah, i think they are pushing it so hard because its literally the only thing they've done right so far and yet it has absolutely no bearing on why I buy season tickets and am a supporter. They want to subconsciously embed the idea that they are winners and not fuckups.
You must actively remind yourself, I don't give a fuck about this guy at all. This is not the club's accomplishment, its his own personal achievement. He is just wearing our logo because we pay him too. I am a support of the soccer club, not the esports whatever the fuck this guy is. I want success on the soccer field. I want news on the soccer fields. I don't want 50 updates about he won some video game tournament or how he's keeping his A1C in check. Just real life soccer. Drop this guy to his own page and get back to why I'm a paying member. Fuck!
