In terms of TAM players:
CM
-We definitely need another CM who is at a similar level as Ring, Herrera. We need to have a good squad and the options to rotate, last season Pirlo, TMac played far too many minutes. This allows us to not be overly reliant on our midfield 3 that are often not all available.
Winger
-As well as this we could do with another Winger, looking for someone who is better than Lewis/Wallace. Ideally someone who could play as Striker as well. Signing Ola Kamara would be stupid to say the least considering in the 2 years PV has been manager and when he managed the MCFC EDS he has hardly ever played a 2 striker system. The amount of TAM, GAM we would need to sign him would just not be worth it.
-Our style of play just doesn't work with 4-4-2, maybe if we set up like Barca do with a diamond midfield but we have Harrison and just signed a DP winger so I see this as unlikely, also considering PV has spent the last 2 seasons getting us some actual wingers with pace who are starting quality which he didn't have when he took over.
CB
-On top of this even if Chanot stays we need another CB who is starting quality. Considering Chanot's injury record this is really important.
In terms of non TAM players:
ST
-Obviously we don't have a recognised backup striker so having someone who could come on for Villa late on in matches or come on to partner him would be very useful. Probably looking at a young player who is relatively unproven.
CM/CDM
-Basically looking for a Lopez replacement, maybe use our first round draft pick on this player. We do however have Awuah and Sands but we lost Pirlo, Lopez and Stertzer so we probably need another depth player in this position.
-Someone young, low salary, good enough ability on the ball to play in a possession based system.
CB
-4th choice CB who would play around 5 games, could be a high draft pick(maybe we trade up). Perhaps could go for an experienced player if our TAM CB is young.
That would leave us with 26 players.
ST(2): Villa, non-TAM ST
W(5): Harrison, Medina, TAM W, Wallace, Lewis
CAM(2): Moralez, McNamara
CM/CDM(6): Ring, Herrera, TAM CM, Sands, Awuah, non-TAM CM
CB(4): Callens, Chanot, TAM CB, non-TAM CB
RB(2): Tinnerholm, Abdul-Salaam
LB(2): Matarrita, Sweat
GK (3): Johnson, Stuver, Rawls
Obviously some players can play different positions, having a TAM winger would mean we can rotate them with Harrison, Medina and Moralez for 3 spots and not have a significant drop off in terms of quality.
We would have good enough depth that we can rotate without causing the team to become considerably worse e.g. TMac, RJ Allen etc playing last season.
