Modric is also under contract until June of 2020, would probably cost 8 figures to buy, if he were for sale, and because of his age you could never recoup that money.
He did play in the PL for a bit and didn't snap in half there. The dude was forged in the fires underneath Yugoslavian chaos. I don't think a few MLS defenders will scare him.
Think he'd get hurt by over-aggressive MLS hacks, before formidable defenders.
As far as I'm concerned, players are dead to us once they end up in Qatar or China.
I don't think it should be such a clear-cut rule. Yes, if they are over 34 and were formerly big names who seem to be really washed out, but the TAM Nico Gaitan deal that Chicago is pursuing with a Chinese club, for example, sounds like a good idea, and there are a number of good players that go to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China at 2o-something just for the big payday, but who later on hate it because of the culture shock related to lifestyle, and they could still be very good in MLS. For example, Andre Carrillo, formerly of Benfica and Watford, by far the best Peruvian player in the WC, just transferred to Saudi Arabia for the promise of some astronomical salary. He's 27, and I am pretty sure he won't like living in Saudi Arabia.
I'm not doubting his toughness moreso his age and the reckless abandon some shitty CDMs play with in this league.

Not trying to drag you here, just think if I'm trying to avoid spoilers on a Champions League game, the last place I would visit is this forum.
Truthfully never is an issue for me, and I was watching, but I know that others on here have been burned and upset before, so just offering a friendly suggestion.
