NYCFC Training Facility Thread

i can assume youth teams may only use it in the warmer months? i think i recall seeing seeing one of their reserve teams training indoor artificial turf field.
 
so the way this thread appears on the homepage is "NYCFC Purchases Land for Train..." which i quickly read "NYCFC Purchases Land from train" and thought LIC stadium was becoming a reality. Went from elated to sad in a millisecond after clicking the link. Now I am back to bored, when is our next game August?

This is not an easy commute to LIC. It is an easy commute from Yankee Stadium. My two cents. This is a good location for a training facility. Yes, it is in Rockland County, but it's pretty much the only part of Rockland County that's considered "civilized" (sorry - a snarky comment from a New Jersey Born, Westchester Resident).

Really, as fans, we shouldn't care where the team trains, as long as it's in a spot that can accommodate everything the team needs to get better and succeed. I'd say about 96% of fans will ever see it in person. As long as it serves its purpose, it really doesn't matter where the training ground is. But CFG might want to unload some stock to help pay for the new TZ tolls. Also, there's been talk (forever) about extending the MNR into Rockland.

huh, so the Metro North runs into Rockland, but only for a few stops and the lines leading up to it are run by NJ transit? How the hell does that work? Do you need to buy a fare for each state even if it's the same train?

Well, it's technically "Metro North", but the NJTransit trains are the only ones that run west of the Hudson, from Hoboken Terminal up to Port Jervis or Spring Valley. But, there's been talk to have a run-off line from Hudson line that will cross the river at the new TZ. I'm not sure it's in the plans with the current construction, but it's been gossiped over for years and years.

The original plan was to have a train line that would go all the way to Stewart Air Base. They nixed it because they didn't want to spend the money to build the train line under the new bridge. I think the bridge could still technically hold it but it's not part of this build.
 
True but planning wise as well. We had to have known the possible size of our aquisition and have something designed and so on. They're either overly secretive or just not in a rush.

While I'm pissed about this too, they do have the luxury of having there stadium plans/permits/construction neatly tucked out of the way thanks to their sister team (the Atlanta Falcons) being a major priority for the city of Atlanta. Also while I think it's pretty stupid, they also have their team branding and mechandise out of the way too. That means that their next major focus for the team (besides actually creating a team), is the youth academy. That means that they can put a ton of focus solely on how they want to put their academy together.

Practicing and therefore living in Westchester or Rockland is the best thing. Rockland is cheaper than Westchester too.

I also believe that the team does offer guys apartments. I know Connor Brandt lives in Tarrytown. I don't know if Lopez lives with him now or not. It also seems like Khiry may not be in the city with Mix anymore because he's always with those guys as well. The more well paid guys live in the city and the rest live in White Plains which is pretty expensive on five figures.
