Nycfc V Columbus Crew - Postgame

Blame it on the players if you want. But honestly for a team to fall apart like that lies on the shoulders of the coach. Almost the end of the season and he's shown an inability to motivate this team.

I have been a Kreis defender and I'm still a supporter. HOWEVER, I would like to hear him take some responsibility for the side's preparation. Like NYCFC_Dan, I believe that's a critical part of his job and he needs to admit some culpability for their performance.

I don't have a particular problem with him starting Lampard over Poku.
Somehow, I don't necessarily feel it was completely his choice.

We just desperately need a superstar 3rd DP and to upgrade the defense this offseason. No disrespect to Frank or his play, but he just appears to be the weakest of our designated players.

Mena, Hernandez, and Facey I am actually all cool with still being here with Facey and Mena as the pair and Hernandez as a backup. I think if Facey and Mena have time to gel, and Iraola improves and adjusts to the speed of MLS how I believe he will, then NYCFC is a starting LB away from having a more than competent defense. Right now, there is just literally no chemistry back there.

Jacobson gave a big middle finger to the haters, but the point still stands. One good game every five doesn't warrant applause.

Mix needed that bike goal to go in. But he was still magnificent today. I thought he was our best midfielder or winger or whatever position he was playing.

Actually pretty impressed by Mullins.

Villa needs to get hot again. He has been off the past few games.

Obviously I think Poku should have started, but I thought he didn't play that great today.

Disappointing season. A few of these one goal games we should have at worst drawn and a few of these games we tied we should have won. Obviously I am holding out hope, but that light is dim.

We treat our own "set pieces" with no respect. With the quality players / quality executors we possess it is sad not to see concise formation runs on free kicks, and corner kicks and throw ins in the final third.
Also - to see how slow we are on build-ups from behind WHEN OUR OPPOSITION HAVE A COUPLE OF THEIR PLAYERS GROUNDED NEAR OUR END LINE AFTER A FAILED ATTAC - is tormenting.
How we treat (or not treat) the above aspects of our game - will prove pivotal.

Why the fuck were we playing for a draw? Our subs were a midfielder for a midfielder, a forward for a midfielder, and a CB for a CB? What's his obsession with switching CBs? It's like if he can't figure out what the last sub should be, he just does that.

And then we parked the bus with about 20 min to play. Made no sense.

Kamara should have been red carded.

I did like the formation we came out in. But it feels like the coach gave up on the season weeks ago, and the roster in general has an inconsistent motor. Just going thru the motions in the second half today.

Your last point can be summarized in one word: SAUNDERS.

He's really a shit goal keeper. Probably the worst starter in the league.

On the train Back to CT so if I'm incoherent blaming on smart phone and movement. We dissapeeared in the second half. I don't know how our ball movement could have been that slow yet we couldn't complete two passes in a row anyhow . One of Mix's better games in a long time. I've actually been feeling slight remorse at getting his name on the back of my kit. Restored a bit of my pride in it at least. Frank was fine but not super neither for a change was Poku actually we were crap once poku and Tmac came on. I'm going to dissent on getting on Villa I think selfishness goes with the territory of being a great forward I even ( as a Man City smpathesier ) see it from Aguero at times .

Dont question #thegenius

Also one good goal by jacobsen doesnt vindocate his mediocre to shit season. Nor is kreis a genius for starting him over poku.

Kreis gave up on the season.

I said to Steve Clark (Columbus goalie) before the game that he's going to let up four goals today. He replied something like "Come at me, bro." After the game he came up to me and said "All in good fun, right?" I replied, "D.C. is going to beat your asses in the playoffs." I should have said, "Just beat the shit out of the Red Bulls."

- Everyone looked depressed heading into the locker room following the game, except Jacobson, who took photos and signed for some kids that were in the dugout. The bear jew with a great goal, that's the one shot he's been taking this whole season and it finally worked this time, unfortunately it was not enough. Mix closed his eyes for like 5-8 seconds on the walk to the steps with the most depressed look on his face. Hope is lost.
- The eastern european/Russian guy next to me with his Ferrari iPhone case that looks at his phone more than the game said to Villa at halftime, "Pass the ball." Villa said something back but I couldn't tell what it was. He thinks Villa is a jerk. I think he's an asshole.
- The defense looked better for most of this game. As I have said Mena is a beast 1v1 and owned Kamara. He went out with a injury and Shay Facey was not the same. Mena also went far up the field a few times, like Poku, which seems odd for a CB.
- Pirlo is completely at fault for the first goal. Didn't mark his man at all. The Columbus guy had a free header. No excuse. Iraola gave a giveaway which led to the 2nd goal.
- The 4-3-3 was fast and exciting during the first 15' then it fell apart. I don't know what formation will work with these players. I like Mullins in, I like TMac in, I like Poku in. But Lampard needs to be in the lineup because Lampard.
- Poku needed more touches. Poku needed more time. The We Want Poku chants began in the 25' and he should have FUCKED STARTED. Poku also didn't come out with the team for pregame warm ups. He came out 1-2 minutes after and was by himself for pregame workouts.
- The ref let the game get out of hand multiple times. There should have been a few more cards. I don't know how Kamara doesn't get a red for that. The guy that ran into Saunders in the box deserved something. Columbus also stays on the ground a lot. Also 1' and 3' of added time only? That's bullshit. It should have been 3' and 5'.

I'd like to see the renew your season ticket campaign this club is going to put for 2016 with how this game and this season are playing out.

Kamara would have gotten a red if he stopped a goal from getting in (DOGSO). Handball anywhere else is just a yellow. Yellow card was the right decision. We gave up goals on 2 mistakes. Pirlo not ,asking Higuain and Andoni giving the ball away.

We played a 4-1-2-3 today. If you play that formation, you can drop Mix in for Jacobsen and play him next to Lampard. Poku goes up top as a False 9 and Mullins goes to the right.

It's not that fucking difficult Jason. It really isn't.

Kreiss blasting the team in the post-game. Pirlo also questioning commitment. Well, the rest of this season could get interesting in many respects.

LionNYC LionNYC I think I saw you in heckle-mode. Mix custom and scarf? I'm in the front row of 123, just beyond the free water. Please hurl me a bag of free peanuts next time.

Bad result, but what a game. We dominated the whole game until the 75th minute, when it looks like we were toast. Jacobson with his best game of the season. And I thought that before the goal. Pirlo really killed us on that corner. I blame hernandez for the second goal, he gave iraola a pass even though he was covered. He really struggles bringing it out of the back.

Overall exciting game, we showed we can hang with the second best team in the east. Just got no luck today, but we created tons of chances

Yeah, that's me. I'll probably be in my long sleeve black Poku next game. Black to symbolize the death of our season, Poku because POKU!!! I'm always talking to the players. Getting the kids around me into the heckling spirit. I'll try and sneak you a bag next game. Security doesn't like people passing stuff up though.

We had some good moments in the first half with solid chances but still don't know how to finish properly.

Villa - how many times was he offsides?!

Poku - didn't seem to have it today

Saunders - horrible, for every good decision he makes about 5 bad ones.

Kreis - should probably blame himself a bit for this instead of throwing all the players under the bus though i do agree there are some who don't seem to care and need to go.
