I hope that's not actually Pirlo we're signing and it ends up being Jesus Christ

You sure on that? I'm positive the screen they showed with Lampard and the dates showed Iraola, and not Pirlo.

Edit: Add to that the fact that zero media has picked up on that - we got as close as you could get to an announcement, but we didn't get an announcement.

Pretty sure. I remember it snapping me out of whatever I was doing. I could be wrong but that's what I heard.

Twellman is right that mid-season DPs have struggled here. Look at Dempsey.

But those were teams where they were expected to be the savior. We don't need Lampard or Pirlo to come here and be magical. The people they will be replacing (hopefully it's Grabavoy, but with Kreis it's probably Diskerud) are SO FUCKING AWFUL that even an average MLS player makes this a playoff squad.

With Angelino and Iraola, let's just look at yesterday's game. An average MLS player (let's assume that Iraola will be one of the better RBs in the league) doesn't get abused down the wing all game. An average MLS player slots the ball home that Wingert somehow pulled a Wondo on.

We'll be fine, gotta believe. One bad game, and there's major reinforcements coming

You don´t even have to believe really, we know that CFG are hellbent on getting this to work meaning that a ridiculous amount of money and soccer resources are available... ;)

Hate to break it to you but it will be Diskerud while he's away for the Gold Cup.

They had Petke on the half-time show and he and Twellman were of the opinion that mid-season DP's are not effective and it's unsafe to put your eggs in their basket.

Oh and Petke's accent sounds like a caricature of a Long Islander, it's almost funny.

The problem is the summer transfer window provides a much larger pool of players due to the timing with the end of the season in most European leagues. Effective or not, this is the time of year you have to grab players like Pirlo or you wont get them.

It's our only opportunity to get quality players outside of the US.
Very tough to get a quality player during the winter window before the start of our season, especially for free transfer.

- So Lampard will be playing 16 games this season when he first plays on July 12th vs. Toronto.
- Pirlo will be playing 14 games this season when when he is expected to make his debut on July 26th vs. Orlando. Of course, he would be eligible to play versus Toronto on the 12th and at New England on the 18th.

If we make the playoffs, fabulous. If we miss the playoffs by a good margin, fuck. If we miss the playoffs by a match or two, fuck CFG they are to blame.

Yeah they said Iraola and Lampard official day view but no mention of Pirlo was ever brought in except teasing as at the NYCFC games.
